This is a new side of Selena. The 22-year-old singer and actress is taking on a much more dramatic role in William H. Macy’s new film, ‘Rudderless’ — and the full trailer tells us we’re definitely going to need our tissues.
Selena Gomez takes on the role of Kate, a young girl who loses her boyfriend in a school shooting. The film focuses on the boy’s father, Sam (Billy Crudup), who drowns his sorrows in alcohol until he finds his son’s music — and it changes his life. The film looks uplifting and encouraging, and also stars Felicity Hoffman, Laurence Fishburne, and William H. Macy, who also directed the film. Watch the trailer for Rudderless here.

It’s a whole new world for Selena to be acting in this movie — but William H. Macy really loved her, which was super important since it was his directorial debut!
“She is extremely beautiful, very composed, and a very good actress,” William said during a press conference. “She was perfect for the role. She plays the girlfriend, and she has the perfect look.”
The description of the movie is:
