Death Cab For Cutie’s New Album Release Date — Co-Founder Chris Walla Quits
Chris announced his departure from the band on Aug. 13 to Slog, a Seattle-based blog. He said:
“Short version: I’m leaving Death Cab for Cutie. My last show with the band will be September 13, 2014, at the Rifflandia Festival in Victoria, BC. I hope you guys can make it.
Longer version: I think I long for the unknown. It might be that simple.
I will miss being a quarter of this band, and will support whatever course Death Cab for Cutie chooses from here. I am profoundly grateful to Ben, Nick, and Jason, for the experiences that define my adult life. Truly grateful, beyond words. Thank you.” His statement continues on. You can read it in full here.
Death Cab For Cutie Will Release Next Record In 2015
In happy news, the remaining Death Cab members Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer and Jason McGerr have announced that they’ll release a new album in 2015!
The band has not released an album since their beloved 2011 record, Codes & Keys. This upcoming album will be produced by Rich Costey and “extensive touring” will follow the release, according to Rolling Stone.
We are totally sad Chris is leaving the band, but it’s exciting to hear a new album will be coming soon!
