One day later, on Aug. 12, Conan shared his favorite Robin story to the Conan audience.
Conan began by telling the audience he sees Robin as an “absolutely incredible man” and “such a fantastically funny guy” who was “so generous, such a nice person.”
Conan then went into his hilarious and heartfelt story. “A bunch of years ago, five years ago, I went through publicly kind of a bump in the road. I was feeling a little low,” Conan said. He then detailed how in the midst of his low point, a bicycle arrived from Robin. “Out of the blue, Robin Williams buys me a bicycle. It sounds like a silly thing!” Conan said.
“It was the most absurd bicycle I had ever seen… it was bright orange and bright green and had shamrocks on it,” Conan laughed. He said he asked Robin why he bought it for him. Robin replied, “Does it look ridiculous? Good, do you really look stupid riding it?”
