So sad. It’s been more than two months since Tracy was seriously injured in a horrific car crash, and he’s still ‘struggling’ to recover, his lawyer revealed on Aug. 11.
Tracy Morgan, 45, may have told the press that he was feeling “strong” when he was photographed on July 12 for the first time since a deadly crash on the New Jersey Turnpike left him in critical condition — but unfortunately his lawyer, Benedict P. Morelli, says the 30 Rock star still has a long road to recovery.
Tracy Morgan: Car Crash Leaves Actor Still ‘Struggling’ To Recover
Poor Tracy. Benedict revealed that even though the actor has made some progress since the fatal accident, he’s still “struggling” after suffering multiple cracked ribs and a severely broken leg.
“The truth is he’s struggling, but he’s fighting hard,” Benedict told the New York Daily News on Aug. 11. “He’s got the fighting spirit, but every day is different. Some days he’s very down.”
Tracy is healing from more than just broken bones. He’s also coping with the loss of his close friend, comedian Jimmy McNair, 63, who was killed when a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer crashed into Tracy’s Mercedes-Benz limousine van on June 7.
“It’s not only physical, it’s emotional,” Benedict said, adding that Tracy still feels “responsible” for the accident.
“Now, there’s been a couple of people who said he’s doing great,” Benedict said. “And that’s not true. What is true is he’s struggling and he’s fighting.”
Tracy Morgan’s First Picture After Accident
Tracy checked into a rehab center on June 20, two weeks after the crash, and was photographed leaving the center on July 12. Tracy was sitting in a wheelchair with a bandage wrapped around his left leg in the picture posted by TMZ.
“Tracy has been released from the rehabilitation center and will continue his recovery efforts at home with an aggressive outpatient program,” the actor’s rep said in a statement to E! News. “He asked me to pass along his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has helped him get to this point. He would also appreciate some privacy during this crucial point in his recovery.”
Even though Tracy still has a long way to go, we’re glad to hear that he’s staying strong and positive. How about YOU, HollywoodLifers?
