‘Project Runway’ looked like something out of the ‘Jetsons’ as the designers crafted futuristic outfits — but unfortunately not everyone rocked the runway. Read to find out who was sent home! (Warning: spoilers ahead!)
On episode three of Project Runway, we were nervous to see what would happen because the last episode was very challenging — and there was a ton of drama, as even the judges got angry! In this episode, it is the 20th anniversary of Marie Claire magazine, which launched in 1994 in NYC, (with our very own Editor-in-Chief, Bonnie Fuller, at the helm!). Episode four begins with Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Zac Posen, and Nina Garcia each telling the audience what they were doing in 1994…it is an amazing trip back in time before the designers have to set their eyes towards the future of fashion!
‘Project Runway’ Season 13 Episode 3 Recap:
Heidi starts by saying: “In 1994, I just moved to New York and I was overwhelmed by Manhattan, but I loved it at the same time.” Tim says: “In 1994, I was entering my 12th year at Parsons as a teacher and as a recently appointed associate dean of the school.” Nina chimes in: “I was an assistant in the fashion department and I was packing and unpacking garment bags, getting coffee, and working really long, late hours!” Zac finished by saying: “I was 14 years old and I was just figuring out that I was getting into fashion.”
After a walk down memory lane, the designers are presented with their challenge — to define the future of fashion! The Marie Claire challenge calls for the contestants to craft a look they think would work in the magazine — 20 years in the future. Each designer gets $200 for supplies and has one day to craft their creation.
The Future Of Fashion:
Angela described the inspiration for her look: “The memory I’m drawing from is when I was working on Wall Street for seven years.” She was going for an updated blazer look.
Kristine tells Tim that she loves the movie Clueless, and her look is based off the costumes in the film — and crop tops!
Everyone was nervous about Hernan‘s look, because it was very risky and scandalous — however it turned out being very chic and sexy!
Kristine’s look was very trendy and modern. It was an all white crop-top look with mesh lining. On the other hand, Mitchel’s look was a bit bizarre. A modern twist on a water suit-turned-jumpsuit, it was a bit confusing, while Amanda’s look was way too gothic and scary.
Sandhya‘s look was actually very unique and intriguing. It was a light pink mini dress with gold jet-pack-esque embellishments. Emily’s look was our personal fave — a sexy and sleek black jumpsuit.
No one liked Angela’s look because it was too boring. Zac described the look perfectly when he said, “I feel like she’s a stewardess from the future and I’d be afraid to get on that plane.”
The judges loved Kristine’s all white look, but in the end it was Sandhya’s jet-pack look that stole the show, making this challenge her second win — and a major comeback from last episode!
Angela lost and was sent home…and rightly so because she hasn’t been doing well since episode one.
Wow — what an episode! What did you guys think of the results? VOTE!
