‘Divergent’ Eye Stab Scene: Director Reveals Real Reason Why Scene Was Cut
You’d assume the gruesome moment for cut because it was too violent, right? Divergent director Neil Burger says that’s not the case!
“That was mostly cut out because it was interrupting the flow of the story,” Peter explains about the eye-stab scene, according to Cinema Blend.
“Sometimes you look at the movie as a whole and you’re like what’s slowing us down? Why is this feeling long? And even though it’s a good scene, that’s really the art of trying to figure out where the movie is working and sometimes what’s slowing it down is one of your favorite scenes, and you’ve got to cut it out.”
The scene will reportedly be included on the DVD and Blu-Ray release of Divergent, but you can watch it yourself above and then tell us what you think!
