Sherri Shepherd: Star’s Surrogate Gives Birth — Will She Be In The Baby’s Life?
Sherri and Lamar’s surrogate gave birth in Pennsylvania on Aug. 5, according to TMZ.
Sherri was not present for the birth, according to the report. Lamar was. “He is excited to be a new dad and for the future ahead,” sources close to Lamar tell TMZ. The site also reports that “Lamar intends to raise the child himself” and will ask a court “to order Sherri to pay support.”
Lamar previously asked for custody of the child in court documents, but a resolution still had not been reached about what would happen to the baby after birth as of last week, according to People.
Sherri reportedly has no genetic connection to the baby. The child was allegedly conceived through IVF with an egg donor and her estranged husband’s sperm.
This baby is Sherri’s second child. She also has a son named Jeffrey, 9, with her first husband Jeffrey Tarpley. Sherri just won custody of Jeffrey in court on July 21.
Before the baby’s birth, rumors ran rampant that Sherri didn’t want to be a part of the baby’s life.
Sherri Shepherd Wins Custody Of Son, 9, After Battle With Ex-Husband
TMZ previously reported that Sherri allegedly did not want to be listed as the unborn child’s mother and also did not want to pay child support.
The report also suggested that the ex View co-host believed her estranged husband actually defrauded her into having the child while knowing full well that he planned to divorce her and collect child support for the baby. While no one but Sherri and Lamar know the true status of what has transpired, we hope everyone can amicably work things out now that the baby has been born.
