The Aug. 3 episode of ‘True Blood’ featured the return of many familiar faces and an epic moment from Bill and Sookie!
It’s down to just the final few episodes! On the Aug. 3 episode of True Blood, Arlene (Carrie Preston) finally got some romance, many of our favorite characters returned, Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) went crazy and Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) sexual tension finally proved too much. Let’s head to Bon Temps!
‘True Blood’ Recap: I Dreamed A Dream
Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) was L-I-V-I-D after discovering Amber helped Sarah escaped. She wanted nothing else to do with Eric and Pam since she had been cured. However, Mr. Gus, Jr. had a great motivator and his name was Mr. Ben Franklin. The antidote could mean a lot of money and Amber couldn’t really afford to turn it down.
Amber revealed to a shocked audience in the room that Sarah was the cure. Eric played with Amber’s emotion by setting fire to a picture of her boyfriend, Jeremy, who died from Hep V. Amber still didn’t budge on spilling the beans on Sarah’s location.
Unfortunately for Amber, Eric hallucinated and saw Sarah in place of Amber. And that’s when he killed Amber!
Andy (Chris Bauer) and Holly (Lauren Bowles) were searching for their two lovebird children, Adilyn (Bailey Noble) and Wade (Noah Matthews). They tracked them down all the way to the treehouse, where they found a cell phone. Violet (Karolina Wydra) had already taken them to her place and fed them all this garbage about love. “I love love,” Violet said. She gave them sex toys to have fun with. She also smiled at the fact that Adilyn and Wade were related. Gross.
Meanwhile, Bill’s Hep V was getting worse. Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) was a crying mess while Sookie remained stoic. Sookie knew there had to be a way to save him.
While Arlene was wrapping up things at Bellefleur’s, Keith (Riley Smith) stopped by to see her home. Things got heated between these two, even though Arlene claimed she was NOT a fang-banger. Their chemistry was undeniable. They kissed! Then they did it on the pool table.
Oh, wait. It was just a dream. (True Blood got us there.)
‘True Blood’ Recap: New Blood
Eric’s Hep V was also getting worse and it was worrying Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten). She asked him if he wanted to die. “I want to kill Sarah Newlin,” he replied.
The hot vamp got new life breathed back into him when Mr. Gus, Jr. had an incredible and financially amazing idea. Once they found Sarah and extracted her blood, they would distribute the cure as New Blood. Mr. Gus offered to give Pam and Eric 40% of the company if they worked together. Mr. Gus was all in, but was a little hesitant about Eric. “I guess you’ll just have to trust me.”
Over at Bill’s house, Jessica and Sookie watched Bill’s every move. Sookie let Jessica cuddle with her maker and it was a nice gesture. When Jessica asked what Sookie would do if Bill actually did die, she said, “I don’t know.”
We got another 19th century flashback of Bill as his father offered up a wife for him. I like the backstory, but could we have gotten this like three years ago? Time is precious on True Blood.
The first familiar face who returned was Hoyt (Jim Parrack) and he brought along a new girl! He was looking much hotter these days and seriously in love with Bridget. He stopped by Bellefleur’s to wait on Jason’s (Ryan Kwanten) arrival. (Doesn’t it rip your heart out every time you realize Hoyt doesn’t remember Jason?) Arlene called up Jason, who was vacuuming in his boxers. Oh yes, please.
When Jason showed up, he couldn’t keep his eyes off Bridget. Like, why? HE BELONGS WITH JESSICA!
Another minute, another new flashback of Bill. However, I have to note that Bill looks exceptional with long hair. This flashback was of him meeting Caroline. They were cute in a very Gone With The Wind way.
Sookie called in a doctor to help Bill — Doctor Ludwig (Marcia de Rousse). Man, is she a pistol. “I fear nothing and no one,” Ludwig said. Her bedside manner wasn’t exactly the best, but she was a hoot. She was perplexed about how Bill’s Hep V was advancing so quickly, and that’s when Sookie dropped the faery bomb. Once Sookie started talking about her lineage, especially Niall Brigant (Rutger Hauer), Ludwig got the heck out.
As Bridget comforted Hoyt at the morgue, Jason was still staring at her. She asked him to talk to Hoyt since he was from Bon Temps. Jason lied for his best friend and said his mama was one of the good ones. He also revealed that they found the person who killed her. (Sigh.)
‘True Blood’ Recap: Hello Again, Old Friends
Sookie called out to her Grandpa Niall for help. She wondered why Doctor Ludwig was so afraid at the mention of his name and it was because his kind probably killed her dwarf descendants so long ago. Good to know.
Finally to the really good stuff. Sarah Newlin has escaped from Eric’s clutches, but can she escape her own mind? She started to see Jason, who was her very own figure of death. He told her that she was going to die soon. (I believe him.)
Sarah screamed he wasn’t real. “I’m not, but death is,” Jason quipped. Nicely done. Jason the Grim Reaper was absolutely right about Sarah’s impending doom because the Japanese had found her!
Yet another flashback to 19th century Bill, but this time it was viewed by Niall and Sookie. Bill’s wife Caroline gave birth. Niall stressed to Sookie that birth, love, death and forgiveness are all miracles. He wanted to give her some advice. Some things you can’t fix and Bill isn’t one of them. Dun dun dun!
In real time, Keith and Arlene had their moment. Keith said he felt her pain over her earlier discussion with Sam (Sam Trammell) and came to her side. They danced, but Arlene freaked because she was Hep V positive. She confessed they couldn’t have sex and she thought he would go running. But no. “Well then, let’s just dance,” he said. Aw!
Violet had left Adilyn and Wade to their lovemaking while she slept. Once she awoke, she wasn’t ready to chit chat. She locked the two crazy kids up with her sex toys.
Sookie, in her ethereal white dress, ran off to Bill’s. (Why would anyone run in Bon Temps alone at night?) Anyway, she told Bill she wouldn’t leave him. “I’m going to stay with you till the very end.”
Then, they kissed! Sookie and Bill fans rejoice! They went from making out to passionate floor sex. This has been seasons in the making.
Over in crazy town, Sarah wasn’t just hallucinating Jason, but Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) and her Buddhist boyfriend! They were all warning her of her death. Steve wanted her to die a Christian, while her former beau said to die a Buddhist.
Sarah being Sarah, chose neither. “I choose me!”
But Grim Reaper Jason had a dire warning for Sarah. Death was coming for her, and by that he meant Eric Northman.
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of tonight’s True Blood? Are you glad Sookie and Bill reunited? Will Eric get to kill Sarah Newlin? Were you surprised to see Hoyt and Steve Newlin return? Let us know!
