Jesse McCartney’s fourth studio album, ‘In Technicolor,’ was released on July 22. In an exclusive interview with HollywoodLife.com, Jesse spilled all about his new album and his ‘fangirl’ music moment!
Jesse McCartney, 27, can do anything. He’s done the acting scene, but has returned to his musical roots for his fourth studio album, In Technicolor. From the top of the Empire State Building, Jesse revealed to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY his inspiration for his new album, its soulful impression and who he’s fangirled over!
Jesse McCartney Dishes On ‘In Technicolor’ Album
Jesse is back! It’s been six years since his last studio album and Jesse’s ready to give fans a new sound. He released a four-song EP in Dec. 2013, but waited until now to release the full album.
The 27-year-old spilled to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY about In Technicolor and how there’s a song for everyone on the album.
“I think each track is saying something new,” Jesse said. “And musically, I just think there’s something for everybody. Somebody who’s not necessarily trained in music is really going to love it. But even musicians will listen to this and be like, ‘Oh, there was some thought put into this album.'”
Jesse revealed that the album actually happened by “accident.” He was working with Hot Chelle Rae, and after a Eureka moment during a writing session, he realized he wanted to cut the song, “Back Together.” That song led Jesse to discover the “blueprint for what the rest of the album would sound like!”
Jesse McCartney Reveals The ‘Soul’ Behind His Album
In Technicolor definitely has that throwback feel. Jesse opened up to HollywoodLife.com about how he felt “most comfortable vocally” with a more soulful album.
“I’ve always felt most comfortable vocally with “Blue-Eyed Soul” kind of music,” Jesse said. “I grew up listening to a lot of soulful bands. A lot of my friends back in the 90’s were listening to Metallica and Nine Inch Nails…I was listening to Boyz II Men and Baby Face.”
Jesse is currently on an all-new, 26-city national tour and he revealed who he’d love to go on tour with!
“I’d love to open up Prince at some point! That’s been a goal of mine. Or at least just jam with him. I actually went to a party like five, six years ago at Adam Levine’s house and Prince showed up with his guitar and his band! They just started jamming out and I was fangirling all over that little jam session.”
Everyone stop everything they’re doing and listen to Jesse’s album, In Technicolor, now! It’s a must listen!
