After Frankie learned the devastating news of his Grandfather’s passing while on ‘Big Brother’ in a letter from his mother, he read it aloud to the house cameras and gave an emotional eulogy to Frank Grande, who passed away from cancer at the age of 90 on July 22.
Ariana Grande‘s brother, Frankie Grande was heartbroken when he learned of his grandfather’s passing, but was sure to share that his family didn’t want him to leave the Big Brother house. During the live stream of the Big Brother After Dark on July 23, we saw Frankie head into the HOH room and read the letter from his mother, then explain his reasoning behind staying in the house, as well as the memories he had of his late grandfather, Frank Grande.
Frankie Grande’s Letter About Grandfather’s Death
“Today has been probably one of the most difficult days in my entire life,” Frankie started telling the cameras, before reading the letter.
In the letter, his mother broke the news that his grandpa had “lost his battle with cancer.” She also shared that his grandfather had told them “that if anything were to happen, he wanted you to know how proud he is of you and that he was routing for you to win. Even though he had no idea what was going on in the show, he was watching just for you — live feeds for all. He also insisted that whatever happened, he didn’t want to interfere with this opportunity for you.”
In the video, we can see that it’s late at night, as the cameras pan out to other houseguests sleeping, but Frankie is dressed up, bow-tie and all, and is extremely emotional.
Frankie Grande’s Letter: Grandpa’s ‘Watching From Heaven’
“He’s watching from Heaven, and I’m sure that’s better than any live feed we have,” one line of the letter read. However, Frankie stayed strong, and spent time thanking his grandfather for being there for him and being such a huge part of his life.
His family told him in the letter they’re waiting for him to get home after the show to do a life celebration but that he should “smile because he deserves to be celebrated.”
After thanking the network, his family, and his fans, he ended it all with an emotional RIP.
“Rest in peace, Frank Grande, one of the most remarkable men to ever live on this earth, and thank you for all that you taught me … Thank you for being the greatest role model a grandson could ever have. Time to go win Big Brother.”
We’re so impressed with how strong Frankie is saying and love that he’s staying, just like his grandfather would have wanted. His family is in our thoughts here at HollywoodLife.com.
