Happy birthday, Prince George! What did the royal family do to celebrate the royal baby’s big day? They released a brand-new portrait of the tot walking around on July 19, duh!
In typical British royal fashion, Prince George commemorated his first birthday by posing for an official family portrait and it’s just the cutest. The little prince showed the world he’s up and walking, which his sure to make Kate Middleton, 32, and Prince William, 32, proud!
Prince George’s 1st Birthday Portrait Finally Revealed

Like a fine wine, Prince George is aging quite gracefully. After all, he has the gorgeous genetics of his Kate and William running through his veins!
On July 19, the royal family released George’s first birthday portrait — our first look at the royal taking his first steps in public.
The official Twitter account for the royal family tweeted out the adorable picture on July 19.

Kate and William decided on the Sensational Butterflies exhibit at London’s Natural History Museum as the location for the portrait, People reports. The photo was taken on July 2 and photographer John Stillwell had the honors. John revealed that the little prince was “very quick” on his feet at the shoot!
“He’s quick on his feet,” John told People. “He was walking towards me – I was kneeling down to take the picture and he was on top of me as soon as he started walking. He was very quick. He looked really steady on his feet.”
Prince George: How The Little Prince Is Celebrating His Birthday
In addition to the official birthday portrait, Prince George is celebrating his first birthday a little early! The little prince will have a Peter Rabbit-themed birthday party at the Middleton’s house on July 19, Daily Mail reports.
Prince George will receive early birthday presents and be surrounded by his family and close friends for the intimate gathering.
The Balmoral castle sits on over 50,000 acres, and has been in the family since the 19th century. George’s own father, Prince William, also spent his summers at the castle as a child.
So sweet that they are keeping with tradition for George’s birthday! We’re sure the Queen truly appreciated keeping things simple. Well, as simple as things can be for a castle full of royals!
