At the BET Awards on June 29, Nicki Minaj called out other artists for not writing their own music. Although she didn’t mention anyone’s name, it seemed obvious Nicki was throwing shade at fellow female rapper Iggy Azalea, 24. “I had to deal with the aftermath when [Iggy] came home,” Nick told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “When she got home and was going through her phone and hearing all these things, and that people were talking trash about her, you know, I had to be there for her. But you know what, Iggy is doing big things and its scaring a lot of people.”
Iggy is doing big things indeed! Her single “Fancy” spent seven weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“She kind of brushed it off! She’s #1 right now so what can you do when you are at the top right now! Of course they will all come at you,” Nick added.
We love that she’s taking the high road — you go, Iggy!
Nicki Minaj Disses Iggy Azalea At The BET Awards?
In case you missed all the drama, while accepting the award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards in June, Nicki majorly dissed other artists for not writing their own music.
“… When you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it,” she said.
It seems that she threw the shade directly at Iggy, because she has been known for allegedly not writing all of her own songs — some reports even claim that T.I. is a ghostwriter for Iggy!
