At the MLB All-Star Game on July 15, Broadway star Idina Menzel, 43, wowed the crowd at Target Field in Minneapolis with a cover of Bob Dylan‘s “Forever Young,” as well as with a gorgeous rendition of the US National Anthem. Check out both performances right here!

Possibly nothing is more nerve-wracking than singing the National Anthem at a sporting event — performances are closely scrutinized and often roundly criticized. Remember when Christina Aguilera forgot the words at the 2011 Super Bowl? Yikes. Who can forget?

Anyway, it’s no surprise that the Tony Award winner didn’t miss a single note. Both performances were beautiful and perfectly nuanced, and Idina looked gorgeous at the same time, of course. Wearing a white blazer over a black shirt and black pants and with her long, dark hair in a high ponytail and her minimal makeup enhanced by a light smokey eye, she looked as classy as ever.

It’s a good thing that Idina dressed modestly for her performances at the MLB All-Star Game — remember when her “real” boobs accidentally fell out of her dress at the Radio City Music Hall in June as she sang “Take Me Or Leave Me” from Rent? “Well, f*** it, they’re real!” she mused at the time. Indeed they are, Idina. Indeed they are.

Ummm… To those who said “Terrible” or “Dreadful…”
Could you do ANY better. I think not. Idina belts. Not yells. There’s a difference.
Idina is an amazing singer. Having seen her live multiple times, she CAN do better, that day wasn’t her best, but it was still good. Deal With It.

Horrible! Never heard so much SCREAMING in my life. When are people going to learn the difference between singing and YELLING. I hope I never have to subject my ears to such ridiculous shouting again.

i think she did a wonderful job. I’ve heard her sing in other venues. Her voice can be loud at times, but I interpret that as having a powerful voice. I sing as well, and I hit every note, but my voice is so soft that I would probably get a negative rating for being too quiet. No one is perfect. I, along with her other fans enjoy her timbre. Bravo, Idina!

Ms. Menzel’s performances last night were two of the most dreadful ever. She yells. That’s what she does. Yells. There is no music involved in her singing. It is about how loud and long she can sing. And as for not missing “a single note,” you must have had the sound off. She was painfully flat at least twice during the National Anthem. Most over-rated singer in history.

Seriously? And who died and made you the music critic of the world? Someone obviously misinformed as to your qualifications.
