Ahoy matey! NBC announced on July 13 that Oscar-winner Christopher Walken will star as Captain Hook in NBC’s live adaptation of ‘Peter Pan’ on December 4. We’ve seen Christopher in feature film roles for the past few decades, but the actor did start his career on Broadway!

Christopher Walken, 71, has been cast in the NBC musical special Peter Pan Live! as the villainous Captain Hook. The veteran actor began his career in musicals and even snagged a role in the 2007 movie adaptation of Hairspray. This is such exciting news we can’t wait to see him take on a classic character like Captain Hook!

Christopher Walken Cast As Captain Hook In Live Musical

Christopher is returning to his musical theatre roots in the December 4 NBC special Peter Pan Live!

“I started my career in musicals and it’s wonderful after all this time, at this point in my career, to be in this classic musical I watched as a child and to work with Neil Meron and Craig Zadan again after Hairspray. It’s a chance to put on my tap shoes again,” Christopher told the Hollywood Reporter.

The show’s executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron added their excitement for the live show. “The exhilarating thing about doing these live musicals is giving the stage to a thrilling performer like Chris, and seeing his once-in-a-lifetime performance unfold at the same moment the audience is watching at home,” they said.

We are absolutely ecstatic about Christopher taking the role. But who will play Hook’s archnemesis, Peter Pan?

Christopher Walken: ‘First Tap-Dancing Captian Hook’

Have you ever seen Captain Hook tap dance? Well, on December 4, you just might. NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt teased that Christopher “might be the first tap dancing Captain Hook you’ve ever seen.”

What. Count us as intrigued.

Although no one has been cast for the lead yet, NBC is keeping with the original tradition and casting a woman as Peter Pan, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Bob added that NBC was interested in Kristen Bell for the role of Peter Pan, but she had a previous commitment with the Showtime series House of Lies. She can definitely sing, that’s for sure! We all know and love her as Anna in Frozen!

Peter Pan Live! will air live on NBC on December 4, 2014.

What do you think, HollywoodLifers?! Are you excited to see a live TV adaptation of Peter Pan? Let us know your thoughts below!
