Steven Spielberg — Oscar-winning director, ‘Jurassic Park’ mastermind… and dinosaur killer? After a Facebook photo of the director posing with a mechanical Triceratops on the 1993 ‘Jurassic Park’ movie set went viral, people freaked out and actually thought Steven killed the creature from long ago.
Dinosaurs have been extinct for a very, VERY long time (like more than 66 million years), but that doesn’t mean everyone on the internet knows that. A Facebook user named Jay Branscomb posted a photo of Steven Spielberg with an animatronic dinosaur from the set of Jurassic Park 11 years ago — and commenters ran wild, calling the movie director “disgusting” and “inhumane.”
Steven Spielberg: Internet Post Leads To People Freaking Out That ‘Jurassic Park’ Director Killed A Dinosaur
Jay posted the photo with the caption: “Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man.”
It looks like Jay was referencing the animal hunting debate happening right now in the wake of Texas Tech cheerleader Kendall Jones, whose photos with slain wild animals have gone viral. Instead of laughing off the joke, some gullible Facebook users slammed the decorated director for “killing” the dinosaur.
“Disgusting! I bet he only kept the horns!” one person commented. “Disgraceful. No wonder dinosaurs became extinct. Sickos like this kill every last one of them as soon as they are discovered. He should be in prison,” another added.
Steven Spielberg: Did People REALLY Believe He Killed A Dinosaur?
While we can’t help but think these posts were all in the name of sarcasm, some people got so passionate that it’s hard to believe they knew it was fake.
“I’d love to see these hunters be stopped. I think zoos are the best way to keep these innocent animals safe… a******s like this piece of s**t are going into these beautiful animals’ homes… and killing them. It’s no different to someone coming into your home and murdering you… I’m not watching any of your movies again ANIMAL KILLER,” one person posted. Wow.
For his part, the man who posted the photo thinks people know dinos are dead. He commented on his page: “I doubt there are many who are unaware of dinosaurs’ extinction. I’m confident that the great majority of shocked remonstrances were tongue-in-cheek. It was a double-troll.”
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think people were being serious and thought the dinosaur in the photo was real? Let us know!
