In 1995, Cheryl Strayed headed on a 1,100-mile solo hike to try and recover from a death, a divorce and a drug problem. She later wrote it in an emotional memoir. Now, Reese Witherspoon is starring as Cheryl in the emotional movie adaptation — and this trailer is a must-see.
The official Wild trailer shows Reese Witherspoon as we’ve never see her before. The 38-year-old actress is taking on an iconic role as a heroin addict who is trying to find herself. Watch the emotional trailer here.
‘Wild’ Trailer Released
In the trailer, Reese of course looks stunning (because she couldn’t look bad if she tried), but wears no makeup while hiking through the Pacific Coast Trail. The film, based on the memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, by Cheryl Strayed. It also stars Gaby Hoffman, Laura Dern and Michiel Huisman.
Dallas Buyers Club director, Jean-Marc Vallee worked hard to recreate the journey to stay as close to the original as possible — he even banned mirrors in the actress’ trailer.
“She went method with the hair and no makeup. We wanted to see Reese out there, not vain at all, not concerned with her image, and she went for it. Wait until you see her in the film. It’s a new Reese,” Jean-Marc told Entertainment Weekly.
He even added that she was a lot like Matthew McConaughey in DBC, putting herself to the challenge “to get out of their comfort zone.”
Trust us, HollywoodLifers — just by seeing the two-minute clip, you’ll be so impressed with her. The film hits theaters Dec. 5. Do you want to see Wild? Let us know.
