It seems like every hit becomes a remake these days — is ‘Thelma & Louise’ the next? Not if Susan Sarandon has anything to say about it! Susan slammed the rumors, telling Hollywood Life EXCLUSIVELY that she does not support a reboot!
Susan Sarandon, 67, is one of the best female actresses in Hollywood, and she doesn’t want to see any of her iconic films get a bad name! The Academy Award winner told us why a Thelma & Louise reboot should never, ever happen.
Susan Sarandon Slams ‘Thelma & Louise’ Reboot
Sorry, guys, but it doesn’t seem like we’re going to see a Thelma & Louise remake anytime soon — at least not under Susan Sarandon’s watch.
Susan spoke to HollywoodLife.com, EXCLUSIVELY admitting that she does not want to see any two young Hollywood starlets to star in a reboot because, well, she doesn’t want to see a reboot!
“I’m really against taking movies that work well and trying to do them over because they never work,” Susan told us at the private New York City screening of Melissa McCarthy‘s Tammy, in which she also appears. “I really wish we would stretch our imaginations a little bit more.”
You can’t argue with her — Thelma & Louise is one of the biggest hits of all time so why should it be redone?
“A lot of films are very specific to the time that they are filmed and to that moment that they existed, and to try to recreate that in a new time is not maybe impossible, but it doesn’t usually work,” Susan added.
She’s not just protecting her own work. Susan is against all remakes altogether! (Yes, we realize that she recently starred in one.)
“When I did Alfie, Jude Law did a great job…but you couldn’t do Alfie the way it was done years before because it’s almost such a misogynist character, women wouldn’t have embraced it and everybody said, ‘Well it’s not like the original but…’ so you can’t win.”
Hollywoodlifers, would you like to see a Thelma & Louise remake or do you agree with Susan and think that masterpieces are best left untouched?
