Sherri Shepherd is in the midst of a very messy divorce from estranged husband, Lamar Sally. Now, reports are claiming that ‘The View’ host is denying parental rights to the couple’s unborn baby.
Everyone knows that Sherri Shepherd, 47, is under a crazy amount of stress due to her nasty divorce from husband Lamar Sally, but could she really be trying to abandon her unborn baby? Sadly, a new report suggests that Sherri no longer wants to be a mother to the couple’s baby because of financial and legal reasons. Sherri and Lamar’s baby is being carried by a surrogate and is due to arrive in Aug. 2014.
Sherri Shepherd Doesn’t Want Her Surrogate Baby Anymore
Wow, this is a pretty shocking new report.
There is a lot of tension between Sherri and her estranged husband Lamar, and understandably so due to their incredibly public and troublesome divorce. However, the latest news regarding their surrogate baby is sad to hear.
Sherri allegedly does not want to be listed as the unborn child’s mother and definitely does not want to pay child support, reports TMZ. The new report suggests that The View co-host believes Lamar defrauded her into having the kid, knowing full well that he planned to divorce her and collect child support.
Of course, HollywoodLife.com reached out to Sherri for a comment on this shocking report — but we have yet to receive a response.
Sherri has no genetic connection to the baby who was conceived through IVF with an egg donor and her estranged husband’s sperm. The View host feels she was taken advantage of by her ex who now just wants full custody of the baby so that he can receive child support.
However, sources told the site that Sherri tried to get pregnant in vitro and when it didn’t work she got deeply involved in the surrogacy process.
Sherri’s Home State Doesn’t Recognize Surrogacy Agreements
The TV star filed for divorce from Lamar on May 2 in New Jersey, and initially asked for full legal and physical custody of the unborn baby in the proceedings. If TMZ‘s report is true, the comedienne has allegedly had a drastic change of heart.
As for why Sherri went to New Jersey, it has been reported that she knew the state generally does not recognize surrogacy agreements. Lamar filed his custody and child support request in California where the law is quite different, and they are more likely to address the surrogacy head-on.
No matter what the truth about this sad situation is, hopefully Sherri and Lamar can work on their issues for the sake of their unborn child.
