Justin Ross Harris, 33, currently sits in a Georgia prison while he waits for a grand jury trial in the shocking death of his son Cooper Harris. More gruesome details from Cooper’s struggle have been revealed in court.
Cooper Harris: Toddler ‘Strugged To Escape’ From Hot Car
Warning: The details from this trial are very upsetting.
New information from Cobb County Police Department Detective Phil Stoddard‘s testimony at Justin’s July 3 trial have been discovered. During the trial, Detective Stoddard said that injuries and abrasion’s on Cooper’s face, body and back of head show that he tried to escape the hot car where he ultimately died.
“It would have come from the child or a scratch being made while the child was alive and then not healing or scabbing over or anything after that, soon after he passed away,” the detective said about Cooper’s injuries, according to Mail Online.
Cooper’s car seat was set on the lowest level while he was left in the hot car, which means the 22-month-old was strapped in as tightly as possible to the seat.
The report also suggests that Cooper spent his last moments scratching himself in the face with his nails and rubbing his head against the back of his car seat, likely trying to escape.
Justin’s wife and Cooper’s mom, Leanna Harris, was present in the courtroom while the detective spoke.
