Hairstylist Michael Braun says Selena’s look is perfect for a sleepover since you might need a BFF to help!
“This look is not so easily achieved on your own hair, so having a friend may help! Section the hair to whatever part is most natural for you. Using a light gel or glossy pomade, begin braiding from your front hairline following your head shape all the way to your ends.”
Stylist Erika Franco offers more instructions via a step-by-step:
“1. Start with clean, straight hair. Make a center part and clip the left section out of the way.
2. Beginning with the right side, grab a section on the top of your head, and apply styling cream to keep control. Split this section into three to begin the braid.
3. Cross each of the outer section over the center in a classic three-strand braid technique. Then, proceed braiding, incorporating new hair on the sides; cross each new section over center, then pick up a new piece from the sides, adding new hair to the existing section and cross over the center. Make sure to add new hair while keeping your braid tight.
4. Keep weaving hair, in the same manner, down and as close to your scalp as possible adding in hair until the hairline is reached. Continue braiding a classic 3 strand braid until you run out of hair.
5. Secure the braid with a clear elastic.
6. Release the left side and start the new braid in the same manner.
7. Spray a light mist of finishing hairspray.
For a more carefree finish, try to secure the braids by teasing the ends instead of using a clear elastic.
My favorite product when doing braids is SHU UEMURA Essence Absolute Oil- In- Cream for instant frizz control and smoothness.”
Get Kate Middleton’s Updo — Pretty For A Night Out
Hairstylist Kelley Foyt tells HollywoodLife.com readers how to get Kate’s amazing updo:
“Curl all of your hair in the same direction using a 1-inch barrel curling iron. Section your hair at the crown of your head and tease 1/2 inch sections of your hair until you’re about two inches from your face (creating your part). Smooth down the top with a comb and spray into place by using Lanza’s Healing Style Dramatic F/X hairspray for a dramatic or loose hold (depending on how much product you use). Next, take the two sections that create your part and twist them backward to pin at your occipital bone (it’s the bone almost directly behind your nose that feels like where your skull and neck connect). At this point, all of your hair should be pulled back, making it easy to tie into a loose, low ponytail. Loosely tease your ponytail, flip it upward and fan it out to create what’s similar to a backward chignon. Pin into place. Take the remaining loose ends of your hair — you may need to re-curl them — and pin them into place to secure the updo and give it a delicate finish. Complete the look with TIGI’s Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Conditioner for picture-perfect, super shiny hair that would make Kate proud!”
Kim Kardashian’s Sleek Pony — How To
Kelley also explained how to get Kim’s ponytail:
“Prep wet hair by lightly spraying Enjoy’s Conditioning Spray to moisturize and protect your hair. Blow dry hair into a smooth, sleek look by using a flatbrush with a rubber-cushion pad and soft but stiff bristles. The Mason Pearson brush, while an investment, is the absolute best. Point your blowdryer’s nozzle in a downward position and continuously brush your hair away from your face until it’s dry. Next, section your hair into a middle part and pull back into a low ponytail. For an extra sleek look, take a section of your hair, wrap around your hairband and pin into place. If necessary, flat iron the length of your ponytail. Finish by using a pea-sized amount of Leonor Greyl’s Eclat Naturel to add shine and smooth down any flyaways on the base of your head.”
