Texas Tech cheerleader Kendall Jones’ love of killing big African game has animal lovers signing at least two petitions that have already gathered thousands of signatures demanding that the 19-year-old be banned from posting pictures of herself smiling next to her killings.
Kendall Jones, a 19-year-old Texas Tech cheerleader, has outraged animal lovers everywhere after posting pictures of herself smiling next to animals that she has hunted, including a lion, leopard, zebra and elephant. Now, the internet is fighting back with at least two petitions calling for Kendall to be banned from posting these pictures on sites like Facebook.
Kendall Jones: Texas Cheerleader Who Hunts Big Game To Be Banned From Facebook?
An online petition to force Kendall to remove her Facebook page because it promotes animal cruelty has already been circulating and is currently up to over 120,000 signatures, according to MailOnline.
The petition reads, “For the sake of all animals, especially the animals in the African region… where hunters are going for fun just to kill an animal!”
However, Kendall has a completely different view; she believes that she is actually helping the animals and is doing what is best for the preserves.
Kendall says,” Controlling the male lion population is important within large fenced areas like these. Funds from a hunt like this goes [sic] partially to the government for permits but also to the farm owner as an incentive to keep and raise lions on their property.”
The photo that got the most attention is of Kendall next to a white rhino, the population of which has dipped below an alarming 20,000. Kendall says that this particular animal is alive and was tranquilized in order to receive treatment.
She said, ”The vet drew blood, took DNA samples, took body and head measurements, treated a leg injury and administered antibiotics. I felt very lucky to be part of such a great program and procedure that helps the White Rhino population through conservation.”
Kendall Jones Wants Her Own TV Show
Due to her enthusiasm for hunting big game, a second petition has been created to ban Kendall from being allowed to hunt in Africa completely.
This second petition reads, “Kendall Jones is an American born hunter who has entered the continent and has been hunting African wildlife under the facade of conservation. She has publicly stated that she hopes to have a television show and she is using endangered and helpless African animals as a stepping to further her popularity on social media platforms.”
It seems that Kendall’s interests in trophy hunting big game are matched by her desire to have her own television show. According to Kendall’s Facebook page, the teenager wants to host her own show in January 2015.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Should Kendall be kicked off of Facebook? Would you watch a show that Kendall hosts? Let us know.
