Rosie O’Donnell Returning To ‘The View’ — Report
“The network executives really wanted Rosie back,” reports Fox News. “They’re confident she has what it takes to add some controversy and drive the ratings up. It is a smart fit.”
Rosie originally moderated the show from September 2006 to May 2007, but she left after just one season when she mutually agreed to cut her contract short with ABC when her controversial opinions caused a stir. But they also caused huge ratings, which the show needs, after Barbara’s departure.
At the time of her leaving, Rosie — who returned, as a guest, in February 2014 — said, “They wanted me three years, I wanted one year and it just didn’t work.” She also added that she “loved” her time on the show.
Since Rosie left, she hosted the short-lived evening talk show, The Rosie Show, on Oprah‘s OWN network.
