Feud alert! During her acceptance speech for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards on June 29, Nicki Minaj dissed artists for not writing their own songs. Is Nicki throwing some intense shade Iggy Azalea’s way?

With candid artists like Nicki Minaj, 31, in attendance at the 2014 BET Awards on June 29, you knew there was going to be some major disses. When Nicki was awarded the Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the event, her acceptance speech contained one huge diss. Nicki talked about artists not writing their own songs, so did she totally aim her shade at rising artist Iggy Azalea, 24, who is rumored to have ghostwriters on her songs?

Nicki Minaj At BETs Vs. Iggy Azalea: Dissed Her For Not Writing Her Songs?

Nicki Minaj is known for being brutally honest and she proved that at the BET Awards on June 29. The singer was awarded the Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the show. When she made her acceptance speech, Nicki dissed artists who don’t write their own songs.

Nicki Minaj: It Was Wrong To Diss Iggy Azalea At The BET Awards

Upon that bold statement, everyone believed she was talking directly to “Fancy” rapper Iggy Azalea, who has not written all of her own songs.

Nicki gave an emotional speech about her career, but had to include some shade.

Nicki Minaj’s BET Speech: Her Scary Near-Death Moment Revealed?

“But my point is, what I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it.”

She immediately tried to retract what she said, “No, no, no shade. No, no, no shade.” However, the diss had been made.

What makes the diss seem like it’s aimed at Iggy is that Iggy doesn’t write all of her songs. She’s listed as a co-writer on her hit single “Work” and on Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” but not on her other smash hits like “Fancy” and “Change Your Life.”

Nicki Minaj Performs ‘Pills N Potions’ At BET Awards

If we’re being completely honest, Nicki’s performance of her latest hit “Pills N Potions” was one of the highlights of the night. Nicki knows how to rock the stage and her whimsical rendition was amazing!

Despite the shade, the BET Awards was an epic night of fun and great music.

HollywoodLifers, do you think Nicki totally dissed Iggy for not writing her own songs at the BET Awards? Let us know!

Uh oh. In the latest news in the Nicki Minaj-Iggy Azalea feud, rapper T.I. reportedly wrote lyrics for Iggy and Nicki may have found out, resulting in that epic BET Awards diss!

That doesn’t make much sense to me considering Iggy has a writing credit on every song on her album and the primary writing credit on half of them (including her singles Fancy, Work and Change Your Life). She doesn’t write her songs totally by herself, sure, but guess what? Nicki doesn’t either.

It should also be pointed out that Nicki’s biggest hit, Starships was co-written by five other people, all…wait for it…MEN.

Nicki minaj is a very successful probably the most successful female rapper of this generation. The way she said she writes her own songs, was implying that others in her field do not otherwise she wouldn’t have sipped the hermit tea. Idk but wheres theres smoke, theres probably a fire.

Since she’s so successful and on forbes and stuff why did she feel the need to address authenticity and she don’t care if she gets her credit or not. ? Words of someone feeling the runner up coming in the rearview.

It doesn’t matter who she was talking to it was shade…..accept your award and keep it moving. Anybody that takes the time to throw shade at other artists in my opinion is feeling a little threatened. In the five years she been in the mainstream no other female hip hop artist had a #1 hit on the billboard. Some people are tired of Nicki and wanting something new….Iggy being that artist to do that…written or ghostwritten, proves that fact and proves that she wont be monopolizing the female arena of hip hop much longer. Other rising females hip hop artists are coming hard, but that throwing shade is only gonna make them go even harder.

I don’t think it was aimed at one person at all.
Lots of people don’t write their own material in the industry.
Some are discouraged from doing that.
It all depends on who you’re signed with.
I think NM was just bragging on herself, not trying to diss anyone.

My last pay check was $9500 working 12 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can’t believe how easy it was once I tried it out. This is what I do… BUZZ19.COM

Hip hop was started by blacks. White people always want a piece of the pie. Iggy is garbage. She’s no competition for Nicki we all know that. Coooome on for real?! SO NOW WHITE GIRLS OR WHITE PEOPLE IN GENERAL ARE GONNA TRY TO TAKE OVER HIP HOP? THEY TRY TO DOMINATE EVERYTHING ELSE. CAN’T WE HAVE WHATS RIGHTFULLY OURS.Thank you sincerely, BARB. NICKI’S BIGGEST FAN!!! no no no shade!

That’s a very ignorant statement. People like you are the reason racism never dies. Are you saying that tiger shouldn’t play golf, or wilt Chamberlain should have never got into basketball. If Iggy wasn’t talented she wouldn’t be selling all the albums she is,as there have been many other female white rappers that weren’t nearly as successful. Race shouldn’t matter. If somebody is talented give them their props. Don’t spread hate, end hate.

Really…what Nicki did was not necessary… Accept your award and keep it moving, everyone one in the industry has had some time of help..there are plenty of white artists both rap and r& b such as vanilla ice, marky mark, nsync, Paul wall, emenim, and now Iggy Azalea… Talent has no color…I agree with James Dean…you are the reason racism never dies…I am African American and I embrace talented music, Nicki is good but not great…time for something new..leggo Iggy… Nicki is simply threatened… Don’t be suprised when someone else takes the crown.
