Justin Ross Harris is being held without bail in a Georgia jail after his 22-month-old son died from being left in a hot car for hours, but he still spoke at his son’s funeral on June 28, according to a new report.
Justin Ross Harris, 33, has been thrust into national news since his son Cooper‘s tragic death in Georgia on June 18. Justin admitted he researched how to kill a child inside a vehicle, according to a sworn statement from police in a warrant — and he’s currently in jail after allegedly being charged with felony murder and child cruelty. Despite all of this, Justin spoke through his wife’s cell speakerphone at his son’s funeral.
Justin Ross Harris: Calls From Prison To Speak At Son Cooper’s Funeral
During Cooper’s funeral — which took place in the family’s hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama — Justin called in from jail, according to Mail Online. “I’m sorry… Thank you for everything you’ve done, I’m sorry, I love you, thank you,” Justin said to the mourners.
Justin also listened in as friends and family remembered 22-month-old Cooper. Justin’s wife Leanna spoke about her imprisoned husband — who she calls by his middle name, Ross, — during the service. “Am I angry with Ross? Absolutely not. It never ever has crossed my mind. Ross is and always will be, if we have more children, a wonderful daddy, a wonderful leader for our children,” Mail Online reports Leanna as saying. “Ross I love you, I am doing this for you okay,” she said.
Leanna also told the mourners that “The Lord” is “holding Ross up” and “Cooper meant the world” to her husband. According to the report, Justin was heard crying through the phone at points during the funeral.
Considering Justin is accused of allegedly researching and carrying out his child’s death, it must have been difficult for people in the funeral crowd to hear him speak about his son on the phone.

As more and more evidence continues to point to Justin allegedly committing the crimes he’s been charged with, supporters have withdrawn a petition to release Justin from jail.
