Living in New York City, it’s easy to eat well with restaurants on every corner. However, in the summertime heat, it’s hard to find that sweet treat to cool us down that’s new and fresh — until now!
Ristorante Asellina, one of the hottest places in NYC, definitely is cooling us down this summer with its brand new dessert, the Crolato! I stopped by recently and can tell you — everything from the service to the atmosphere to the insanely delicious flavors, Asellina is the place to be this summer.
Asellina’s Crolato: The Best Dessert Of The Summer
Think ice cream sandwich (with gelato) meets cronut — and wah-lah, you get Asellina’s Crolato. In between two freshly baked croissants is a few scoops of gelato. For only $5 (yes, in NYC it’s only $5), you can get the tasty treat in one of their amazing flavors — Creamy Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Italian Pistachio and my personal favorite, Nutella.
Chef Andrea Montobbio delivered them himself and it was inspired by a treat he ate when growing up in Capriata d’Orba, Italy.
You can visit their Gelato Cart outside of Asellina Monday-Saturday 12-8pm! Plus, on Wednesdays from 12-2pm it’s Free Scoop Wednesdays!
So whether you want to enjoy an intimate dinner at the cucina and wine bar, sip on some (amazing) white or red sangria with fresh fruit, or stop by for a Crolato, Asellina is the place to be! It’s located on Park Ave. South between 28th and 29th Street inside the Gansevoort Park Ave. Hotel. Enjoy!
