The crooning cutie has finally fulfilled her dream of recording a country-inspired album — and she shared her greatest hits with a once-in-a-lifetime performance at the iconic Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, where she showed off a leather scalloped dress for the occasion! She said she has been dreaming about the right outfit to wear for the very special performance for quite some time!
Most girls dream about their wedding dress, but Lucy Hale has “dreamed about the dress [she] was going to wear on the Opry,” the star shared with the Tennessee crowd. On June 21, the 25-year-old’s dream became a reality when she performed songs from her debut country-pop album, Road Between, on Nashville’s legendary Grand Ole Opry stage in a white leather gown that featured a layered, scalloped skirt that stayed true to the country-pop theme of her debut album. At the end of the night, she tweeted that she felt “beyond blessed” and thanked Opry for “the best night of [her] life.” It certainly sounds like a night to remember, but was her dress just as memorable?
Lucy Hale’s Grand Ole Opry Performance Dress:
Lucy, most notable for her slightly gothic style as Aria Montgomery on the hit teen drama Pretty Little Liars, opted for a lighter look when representing herself on stage in Nashville, Tennessee. The singer, who is actually a Tennessee native from Memphis, wore a Dsquared2 white leather, tea-length gown with a laser-detailed fitted bodice and a scalloped skirt. The creamy white gown was beautiful against her bronze complexion and left her glowing on stage, and her gold strappy stilettos added a nice touch. However, the busy layers on the skirt and the scalloped silhouette slightly overwhelmed her small figure, widening her from the waist down.
Standing at only 5’2, Lucy should have opted for a dress that would have elongated her figure — and not filled her out with the extra material. The design of the dress screamed “doily” and looked like it should have belonged on a table, but we do commend Lucy for attempting to stick to her album’s country theme…and for choosing such a beautiful color. We also appreciate the way the detailing manipulates the leather fabric, giving it a soft and girly vibe rather than the usual edgy feel.
The close-up shots of Lucy were, however, absolutely stunning. Her glossy ombre locks were styled in large curls that elegantly hung over one shoulder. Meanwhile, her makeup looked effortless and natural, with bronzer to highlight her defined cheekbones, shimmering brown shadow, black mascara, and soft pink lips.
We actually didn’t mind the fitted top of the gown and the laser-cut detailing, but we wish she would have opted for a silhouette that was more flattering on her figure. Simplicity does not translate to boring, and we think a simple, cream-colored gown could have done so much more for Lucy’s petite frame while also adding an elegance and ethereal quality to her onstage presence. Still, we’re proud of Lucy for giving a confident performance on the legendary stage, and for relentlessly pursuing — and now fulfilling — her dream of becoming a singer.
