After Joan made an indelicate joke about Kristen’s much-publicized affair with her ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ director, Rupert Sanders, in her new comedy book, Joan claims K-Stew is threatening to sue her. But a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that Kristen has decided NOT to take the brash comedian to court — and the reason may surprise you!
Kristen Stewart is not cool with Joan Rivers joking that the Twilight actress slept her way to stardom. In fact, she reportedly even had her lawyer reach out to Joan’s lawyer about the cruel diss. So why is Kristen backing down from suing the fearless Fashion Police star? It’s because she doesn’t want to remind the world of her shocking 2012 affair with her then-married director, Rupert Sanders, a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Kristen Stewart To Sue Joan Rivers Over Rupert Sanders Diss? — Why She Won’t
No wonder K-Stew is upset! Joan wrote in her new book, Diary of a Mad Diva, “Many stars only do one thing well. Of course, the best one-trick-pony is Kristen Stewart, who got a whole career by being able to juggle a director’s balls.” Ouch!
The 81-year-old comedian revealed in a new interview with TMZ that she has no plans to remove the remark from her book, even though she’s “now being sued by Kristen Stewart.” “Her lawyer contacted my lawyer, which shows the sense of humor she has,” Joan says. “Zero.”
While Kristen, 24, hasn’t exactly forgiven Joan, she’s decided that it would be in her own best interests to let the nasty slight slide, a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
“The reason that Kristen backed down from suing Joan Rivers was because she didn’t want people to talk about the Rupert Sanders incident again,” our source reveals. “That was the moment that ruined her relationship with Rob [Pattinson] and affected her career, with some people thinking she was and is a homewrecker.”
Kristen has come a long way since the affair and the last thing she wants to do now is dredge up her painful past.
“She now thinks people have mostly forgotten about that incident. If she went through with suing Joan, it would cause so much unwanted and unneeded media attention, that at the end of the day it was easier to refrain from suing,” our source explains. “Kristen thought, ‘Why help sell Joan’s book by raising attention to it?’ Kristen thinks the statement Joan made is hurtful and untrue, so to give it extra life would be the bad move.”
Robert Pattinson Stays At Kristen Stewart’s Home
The good news is that Rob and Kristen seem to have moved past their troubled history and developed a close friendship. So close, in fact, that Rob even stays at Kristen’s home sometimes when he’s in Los Angeles!
“Rob doesn’t have his own place in LA. When he’s in town, he sometimes stays at the Chateau Marmont and very often at Kristen’s when she’s out of town,” an EXCLUSIVE source told HollywoodLife.com. “This gives him the chance to hang out with Bear and Bernie [their dogs].”
So HollywoodLifers, do YOU think Kristen is doing the right thing by not suing Joan? Let us know!
