Oh, Sam Smith — your voice is so dreamy. The British singer, who just released his debut album ‘In The Lonely Hour’ five days ago, just wowed the world again with his emotional performance of ‘How Will I Know.’ Watch Sam sing it here!

Sam Smith, 21, might have only one album to his name, but his talent speaks for itself. During an appearance at SiriusXM Hits1 in New York City on June 20, the young Brit stunned everyone with his flawless rendition of Whitney Houston‘s “I Wanna Know.”

Sam Smith: Singer Covers ‘I Wanna Know’ By Whitney Houston

Whitney’s 1985 hit was bright and upbeat. Sam’s spin on the song is oh-so different. In a way that only Sam can, the 21-year-old singer takes the song, slows down the tempo and inserts a million different emotions. Sam croons the song perfectly while a keyboard player and guitarist join along. You almost can’t hear the instruments playing — Sam’s amazing voice takes over the entire tune.

The classic song is one of Sam’s favorites. “A Whitney Houston song that makes me happy – it’s a feel-good song,” Sam said to Rolling Stone about why he chose the track to include on a “favorites” list he put together for the mag. “I love the juxtaposition of a melancholy lyric with an upbeat sound. People forget that’s how she rose to fame. The more mature Whitney, like ‘I Will Always Love You,’ came later.”

Sam’s cover of the song appeared on a recent episode of Greys Anatomy, too! The singer is having a seriously-amazing week now that his album has officially been released.

Sam Smith Album Review: Critics Are Wowed By Songs

The critic’s reviews are in for Sam’s debut album — and everyone’s loving it! “Smith bares more than his vocal cords on this record. Every story of unrequited love that’s been put to song is powerful in its own right,” Billboard.com wrote. “It’s universally accessible, and it’s the kind of pop that has the potential to dominate the charts and win over hearts during festival slots,” musicOMH.com posted about the record.
