A 9-month-old baby was found dead inside her father’s hot car after he accidentally left her alone for five hours while he was at work. So sad.

Steven Lillie accidentally left his little girl, just 9 months old, strapped in her carseat inside of his closed vehicle for more than five hours while it sat in the sun. Once Steven remembered his baby was in the car, the high 80’s temperature left her unresponsive. Sadly, it was too late for his daughter to be saved.

Baby Girl, 9 Months, Left Inside A Hot Vehicle For 5 Hours By Dad

What a heartbreaking tragedy.

Steven strapped his baby girl, just 9 months old, into her carseat and left for the day on June 16 in Rockledge, Florida. He planned to drop her off at daycare on his way to work, but completely forgot that she was even in the black Dodge pickup truck, reports the Daily Mail.

Once he arrived at work he parked his truck in the sun, closed it up, and headed into the telemarketing office for approximately five hours or so. The report claims that a combination of the high 80’s temperatures mixed with the direct sunlight could have heated the inside of the vehicle to over 100 degrees.

“The temperature would have been brutal,” Rockledge Police Lieutenant Donna Seyferth told the press.

When Steven discovered his unresponsive baby girl inside the back of his truck, his screams could be heard inside of the telemarketing office he worked in. His co-workers called 911, but it was too late for Steven’s daughter. Emergency responders rushed her to Wuesthoff Hospital, but she was already gone.

“She’s been in the car for hours and I, I absolutely forgot about her — she’s not alive,” Steven could be heard telling a 911 operator, according to Click Orlando.

Witnesses claimed that the horrifying realization of what he had done caused Steven to collapse.

As of right now, no charges have been filed against Steven.

I think that everyone is numb to the problem. You need to understand the issue of having a child and leaving him/her in a car. When I get off of work, the hottest part is my car. If a parent forgets about actually picking up the child, strapping that child in the car and driving to where ever they have to go to. Did the parents forget they carried that child for 9 months or delivered that child in a hospital? It’s pure laziness and stupidity. A charge that should stick is murder.

I’m sorry but you don’t forget your baby is in the car, that is BS. Child neglect at the least and should be charged with manslaughter!

Absolutely tragic. Poor baby, poor parents. That father will never recover.

God’s love is in you who does not condemn. You feel his pain not wanting to burden him refusing to heap more pain upon him.

It was accidentally. Don’t blame him, it was mortal to the baby, but yourself in the dad’s place: He will always live with the fault in his mind, that’s the only thing he can’t get rid of. Rest in peace, little angel.

Do not file charges against him. What good will it do? Weep with those that weep.
