Eli Manning may be a Super Bowl champ but more than anything he’s a down-to-Earth father of two! On June 11, he revealed his Father’s Day plans with HollywoodLife.com exclusively on the Oral-B and March Of Dimes Father’s Day event in NYC!
Even when it comes to football season, Eli Manning‘s favorite part involved his family! With Father’s Day coming on June 15, he told HollywoodLife.com that growing up with brothers Cooper and Peyton, his favorite memory was actually playing baseball with their dad, Archie Manning!
Eli Manning’s Fathers Day Memories
“A lot our Father’s Days revolved around playing baseball. In the summer, in June, on the weekends, just playing baseball tournaments. That was a lot of Father’s Days and different towns have baseball tournaments,” he said at the Oral B and March of Dimes event, where he attended with his 3-year-old daughter, Ava and his wife and high school sweetheart, Abby McGrew.
“My mom would always try to gather everybody back up on a Sunday, late afternoon and eat some crawfish. [We'd] have a little barbecue or do something outside, and get all the boys together just swimming or running around and just having fun.”
So, now that he’s all grown up with kids of his own — Ava and Lucy, who turns one in on June 17. He said that while his wife probably “has something up her sleeve,” right now he’s just looking forward to being with the fam on Father’s Day weekend before pre-season kicks off August 3.
Eli’s Daughter Ava Goes To Giants Games
“She’s been to some Giants game and my wife will take her. I think she gets into the crowd and likes the music and that part, but I don’t think she quite understands that I might be playing in the game,” he told us laughing. However, it doesn’t matter because he just knows that she’s there.
He added that for his father, retired NFL star Archie Manning, his go-to gift is golf balls with his number on it or a putter — but once he took him to a Yankee game and said it was amazing.
“I asked him if he ever been in Yankee Stadium and he said he played in Yankee Stadium, a football game when he was a Saint, but never seen a baseball game,” Eli said. How sweet.
Speaking of football, is Eli ready to hit the field again?
“I am excited about our new offense that we have. We have a lot of new faces and new teammates. And looking forward to getting back to winning games and playing at a high level – that’s the fun part about playing football, is playing well,” he told us, before adding that at the end, it’s all about family. “Winning games and enjoying those wins with your teammates and your friends and family. Looking forward to getting back to those moments!”
So cute — we can’t wait to see him take the field on August 3 in the first pre-season game of the year against the Buffalo Bills!
