Sigourney Weaver is coming back from the dead in the ‘Avatar’ franchise! Director James Cameron has announced that the actress will return for the next three sequels of the famous sci-fi flick. How exciting!
Sigourney Weaver‘s character, Dr. Grace Augustine, died in battle at the end of the 2009 sci-fi movie smash Avatar, but she’s not gone for good. James Cameron is set to direct three more Avatar films , and Sigourney is now confirmed to play a role in all three! How exciting!
Sigourney Weaver In ‘Avatar’ Sequels: Actress Set To Star In Next 3 Movies
We already knew that Avatar stars Sam Worthington, Zoë Saldana and Stephen Lang (his character also died in the movies, but he will come back) would play a part in the movie’s next three films. We can now add Sigourney to that list! Don’t assume that Sigourney’s character Dr. Grace Augustine will come back, though — she might still be dead. James has other creative ideas for how to incorporate Sigourney back into the flicks.
“Sigourney and I have a long creative history, dating back to 1985 when we made Aliens,” James Cameron said, according to Deadline. “We’re good friends who’ve always worked well together, so it just feels right that she’s coming back for the Avatar sequels. Her character of Grace Augustine, as fans know, died in the first movie, so she’s playing a different and in many ways more challenging character in the upcoming films. We’re both looking forward to this new creative challenge, the latest chapter in our long and continuing collaboration.”
