‘Teen Wolf’ Cast: Season 4 Will Be ‘Nostalgic’ & ‘Stripped Down’ — Watch

Season 4 of ‘Teen Wolf’ is almost upon us, and in a new video, the core reveals what to expect from a tragically Allison Argent-less season; after all, you can’t go back.

The core cast of Teen Wolf — heartbreakingly sans Allison Argent (Crystal Reed) — are speaking out in advance of the June 23 premiere of Season 4 and revealing what fans can expect from the once-campy show about teenage werewolves which is now something that viewers legitimately cry over each week. Check out the video and read on for more!

‘Teen Wolf’ Season 4 Preview: Season 3B Was A ‘Tragedy’

Season 3B was one of the most heavy-hearted finales of television ever. Following Allison Argent’s death and Stiles Stilinski’s (Dylan O’Brien) possession by the nogitsune, a Japanese trickster spirit (I know), the tagline for Season 4 is “Can’t Go Back”; indeed, this season, the kids are forced to move forward and move past all of the trauma they’ve faced in their short time being exposed to the supernatural. After three seasons, how long has it been since Scott (Tyler Posey) was bitten by Peter (Ian Bohen)? One year? They’ve been in the sh**.

“Season 3B can only be labeled as a tragedy,” Dylan says in the behind-the-scenes video of their “Can’t Go Back” promo video shoot.

However, will Season 4 be much sunnier? With some terrifying villains new (mouthless thing, zombie thing) and old (Kate Argent the werejaguar), along with a mysterious “Benefactor” who is looking to destroy all supernatural creatures — including werewolves, werecoyotes, and kitsunes — it doesn’t really seem as if “Can’t Go Back” is a coping mechanism so much as it is a dire need to sprint away from each new dangerous obstacle that presents itself.

‘Teen Wolf’ Season 4 Brings The Supernatural Show Back To Basics

That said, the cast are blessedly painting a cheerier picture than we’ve seen in the promotional materials up until now. “Season 4, so far, is a lot like Season 1,” Dylan says. “It’s sort of stripped down from all the craziness that went on in Season 3. … The buddy-buddy scenes with Scott and Stiles that [haven’t] happened in so long… this season’s been nostalgic in ways; it’s cool.”

“It’s funnier, it’s slower paced; it’s more of an action-adventure-comedy,” Tyler Posey adds.

‘Teen Wolf’ Season 4 Will Reveal More Of Lydia’s Backstory; Derek Will Face New Challenges

Tyler Hoechlin, however, is a little more cautious — “Derek [is] gonna face a lot of new challenges.” Figures. “Challenges that we haven’t seen any of the characters go through yet.” Double figures.

For Holland Roden‘s part, she reveals that we will be seeing more of Lydia’s backstory, and, “There will be no more people rising from the dead, like we had in Season 1, 2, and 3. They mean it this time!” Bless. (Unless it’s Allison that’s being raised from the dead. In which case, I am wholeheartedly on board.)

Finally, because Tyler Posey’s the cutest, I’ll leave you with this: “[Season 4] takes me back to being a kid and growing up on the set of Teen Wolf. It’s emotional for me. At the same time, it’s just so much fun to finally be back in this place again!”

So, HollywoodLifers, tell me: what are you most looking forward to in Season 4? Vote (and take advantage of my too-large poll) and comment!

Things I want to know:

Is Morrell back to teaching at the school? How did Danny learn about werewolves? More about the kitsune mythology and what Kira can do. Is Lydia’s mom a banshee too? What’s up with Deputy Parrish? Can anyone become an emissary or is it a chosen/bloodline thing? Has Scott’s dad figured out that some crazy things are going on with his son and his friends? Does he know more than he is letting on? How are they going to explain Isaac’s absence? Cora’s continued MIA status? Is Scott going to be working with Kate for the greater good or will they be on opposite sides the whole season?

Is Peter going to be The Benefactor? Will Stiles and Scott’s other human allies be on the hit list? Will Kate show any redeeming qualities (don’t worry, evil Kate is the Kate I want to see) for her actions (though seeing her save the Sheriff or Melissa would be kind of dynamic)? Is Stiles bisexual or isn’t he? What does Lydia actually look for in a guy? How will Sheriff Stilinski deal with the fallout from his station exploding and how will he protect his son from taking the fall for the Nogitsune’s crimes?

And so much more!
