‘Slender Man’ Victim Released From Hospital
The stabbing victim was released from the Waukesha Memorial Hospital on June 6 following the brutal May 31 attack by classmates Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier. The family made a statement upon her release:
“She is excited to be out of the hospital, see her pets, and continue along the road to recovery. Our family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support and love from not only the local community, but from around the nation, and the world. We are especially thankful to everyone who has donated to the Hearts for Healing fund.”
When asked how she found the strength to crawl out of the woods after being stabbed 19 times, her family said she replied, “I wanted to live.”
Her family also asked to respect her privacy at this time. “We now need time to heal and ask that everyone please continue to respect our privacy and distance, and especially her anonymity, at this time,” the family said in the statement.
The family posted a letter near the site of her rescue and shared many of their “strong, brave” girl’s hobbies and interests, according to ABC News. They mentioned their online fundraising campaign, Hearts for Healing, but did not mention the attackers or the Slender Man connection.
Morgan Geyser & Anissa Weier Stabbed Victim For Slender Man
What seemed like an innocent sleepover between Morgan, Anissa and the victim, quickly turned into horror.
A game of hide-and-seek with the 12-year-olds in Waukesha, Wisconsin evolved into Morgan and Anissa stabbing the victim 19 times in her arms, legs and torso.
The attackers had planned to kill the victim for months and committed the crime to be accepted into Slender Man’s realm, the Daily Mail reported. Eric Knudsen, the man who created the Slender Man myth, told Radar Online that he was “deeply saddened” by the event.
Thankfully, the victim survived and is on the road to recovery from this horrific incident.
