At 18, Austin Mahone wants to be known as an individual — not just a Justin Bieber knock-off. Now that JB has been getting into more and more trouble, Austin’s speaking out, letting the world know that the comparisons have gotten old!
You guys, Austin Mahone is not Justin Bieber. He may have gotten his start singing and dancing on YouTube; yes, he has a ton of crazy girl fans and really good hair; and he may be close with Selena Gomez. However, he’s tired of the comparisons!
Austin Mahone Disses Justin Bieber
“I can kind of see where they’re coming from, but at the same time, it’s kind of obnoxious,” he told the Associated Press. “They see a young kid who sings and dances and … they’re like, ‘Oh another Justin Bieber.’ Like, you don’t even know. You don’t know me. You don’t know my music. You’re just making assumptions.”
It’s not really a surprise that Austin wants those comparisons to stop — while Justin’s a successful musician, he’s not exactly the best influence and is currently under hot water for videos surfacing that show him telling racist jokes and using the N-word. That’s not something that Austin wants to be associated with!
Additionally, Austin’s new EP “The Secret” topped charts this week, and he’s just hoping to keep succeeding.
Austin & Justin Recording Music Together
While we totally get why he doesn’t love the comparison, it is a little strange seeing as how he was just in the studio with Justin on April 1!
“They really respect each other’s music,” a source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively at the time. “They work with a lot of the same producers and Justin knew Austin has been in the studio working on his album. Justin had a song he thought could be really perfect to do with Austin so they got together in the studio.”
Do you think Austin should be nicer to Justin? Or do you think he has a point? Let us know!
