The Rover might pack more thrills than just about anything put in theaters

Posted at 3:36 AM on June 11, 2014

Nice to see that Rob is finally getting the recognition he deserves. Fantastic review:

GWP review of The Rover:

“Pattinson is nothing short of unbelievable. Forget anything that you’ve ever seen him in before, this is a towering, career defining performance. Like Leo DiCaprio in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Ryan Gosling’s Half Nelson or Al Pacino’s Dog Day Afternoon – this is the one that sees the young actor nurtured to his full potential.

Every single stammering unenunciated southern turn of phrase disguises the erudite Brit made famous by being the prettiest, sparkliest vampire ever. Watching his impressionable nature absorb the bleak philosophy of our man with no name (Pearce) creates a tragic Stockholm syndrome, which also affects his companion.”

Rob is a standout in The Rover

This must have been one of the best experiences of Rob’s life.

Q. You guys spent a lot of time together out in the outback while filming ‘The Rover’. How was it like working with each other?

Guy Pearce: Rob’s talented, really, to be honest. We got along really well together. We got to play our music together as well. We all had guitars out there, so there was a bit of that going on. But watching Rob work, personally, was great for me.”

Roboposter, you clearly believe you have the secret to eternal youth. I have bad news. Fourteen is a temporary state. You’re not always going to be a self-righteous, grandiose, narcissistic, belligerent, hypocritical, foul mouthed fourteen-year old virgin. Some day you will be a self-righteous, grandiose, narcissistic, belligerent, foul mouthed fifty-year-old— and a virgin, if you don’t get off the internet gossip sites and start looking for a real guy instead of groveling at the imaginary feet of the man you imagine Robert to be.

You’re such a fool. Stop judging everyone by your standard. That’s your whole problem, you have a distorted view of the world. I’m not the one who grovels at anyone’s feet. I’ve told you over and over that I’m not doing this for Rob.

I will never meet him and he’s sure not reading these comments. I’m not you. I don’t think KStew will ever be my best friend or that she will blow me, the things you fantasize about.

You need to get offline and get a life. You are the joke. Everyone laughs at you and just skips over your boring BS.

STAY OFF OF ROB’s boards. Restrict your insane, delusional rants to her boards. His fans know what a LOSER you are and will never visit your blog.

The names Robert Pattinson, Indiana Jones and Star Wars make them big money. There are probably a few people up for these parts – and IF Rob’s hat is in the ring it’s just to get his name in front of the people who make movies. When they combine those words – mega money – especially on places like Twitter when they can report fan-reactions back. It is their job to stir up meanness for money.

Fans have been dealing with tabloids for longer than Arnold Schwarzenegger & Tiger Wood’s REAL & MULTIPLE adulterous offenses, combined. We should NOT be fighting each other – we should be mad at the jerks who intentionally CAUSE us to fight.

Both Robert and Kristen have made SEVERAL comments about how cruel the paparazzi & tabloids are to them over the years – and fans (no matter what their affiliation) have witnessed and experienced the effects all this time. NONE of this has been ‘normal’ celebrity treatment, nor is it NEW for them.

TABLOIDS & PAPARAZZI are the common enemy of both Twilight & Anti-Twilight Fans whether they are robsessed, krisbian, robsten or whatever. If we can all remember that – this stuff is easier to keep straight. The ‘rumors’ have never stopped online since the ‘cheating’ scandal started – which is where the majority of fans who love them play.

This is a flat-out LIE that the tabloids & paparazzi want us to believe: Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart OWE their fame to them. No, they owe it to entertainment news sites like The Hollywood Reporter & Entertainment Weekly; and Magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair and Marie Claire – places that actually PAY them to bring us REAL celebrity goodies. Tabloids are bottomfeeders that USE them.

Los Angeles Times – The Tabloids Don’t Deserve the First Amendment. Here’s a splash:

“The problem is that the culture of tabloid journalism in both Britain and the United States is deeply tied to criminal acts. Without illegal conduct, tabloids could not preempt the mainstream press, and they would not survive.

Although the law provides us with the tools we need to punish crimes related to free speech, the judicial system is too quick to bow before the 1st Amendment, and as a result we end up shielding criminals who misrepresent themselves as journalists and activists…

Crime is crime. Tabloid journalism uses illegal tactics, and it does not deserve absolute protection from the 1st Amendment.”

2014 is Rob's Year

Posted at 2:20 AM on June 11, 2014

It’s a great year for Rob and his fans. Rob is single and happy, he can date whoever he wants or not, that’s his choice. He’s seemed very happy since returning to London in December. Nothing but smiley pics for the past 7 months.

His career couldn’t be going better. He’s working on all high quality projects with other A Listers and the most respected people in the entertainment industry.

1.The Rover, premiered at Cannes with great reviews.
2. Maps to the Stars, premiered at Cannes with great reviews.
3. Queen of the Desert/ensemble with a master director, Werner Herzog.
4. Life/ Starring Role, working with Dane DeHaan, he couldn’t look better

5. Childhood of a Leader/ Starring Role
6. Lost City of Z/ co-starring in a big budget Paramount Studios film w/ Benedict Cumberbatch
7. Idol’s Eye, Starring Role along side Robert DeNiro
8. Hold on to Me/ co-starring with Carey Mulligan

He’s always been writing scripts, he was executive producer on Remember Me, and he may direct one day, he’s spoken about that before. And Idol’s Eye and The Lost City of Z are both big budget studio film, so he has no problem with that, as long as the script is good.

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK HOLLYWOOD LIFE AND EVERY OTHER TABLOID YOU’VE VISITED ONLINE ARE?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*****************

List of other things our beloved robsessed, Anti-Twilight roboposter has been wrong about:

1) Robert does not have a residence in LA. He DOES as confirmed in a Cannes interview – in a gated community. Is it the same place he rented when he moved out of the Los Feliz place?
Roboposter, YOU were supposed to KNOW this. After *I* pointed this factoid out earlier; you INSISTED he had given up that place, doesn’t have a residence, and has been staying at the chateau marmont to stay out of the papz sights. You claimed it was PUBLIC RECORD and that *I* was an idiot.

2) Robert doesn’t want to have anything to do with Kristen; and has had absolutely no contact nor been seen with her since October 2013. Rob put that dream-idea into flux when he replied, “Oh, yeah” BLITHELY to a question about it. (Remember, there is more than one definition for that word.)

3) A HACKER recovered information about a PLOT during Cannes between Rob & Kristen’s camp that they were going to be reuniting for Cannes and then splitting up again afterwards for publicity.

4) Kristen Stewart cheated – definitely, and multiple times before she and Rupert were caught having a naughty rendezvous. Despite the FACT that MUCH evidence supports a claimed (and more forgivable) ‘chaste affair’ in a ‘momentary indiscretion’ with a reputed sleazeball.

5) Kristen Stewart’s career is in the toilet and Robert is a shining star on the rise!! No major Hollywood companies want to deal with her; and no major Hollywood Stars want to work with her. Chanel doesn’t count, of course – and “Equals” being on the horizon is just an irrelevant blip, isn’t it?

What am I missing?

ROBOPOSTER and your fellow Kristen haters below – this is for you ALL!! People wouldn’t be hating on Robert nearly as much if they didn’t have to defend Kristen from mean, MANIC fans like you. You must LIKE being USED.

The tabloids will never stop writing against Kristen because overly-obsessed dearhearts like YOU gulp down the p*ss they put out like HONEY for MONEY.

It is FUN for you to smear your hate in the faces of people who still love both Robert & Kristen. Someone said this to you on another board, and it applies to you.

“You, Roboposter, have come to represent the vicious, anti-fan and stalker who tries to destroy the object of your hate–a woman who proved to be not just talented and beautiful but human and fallible, by getting seduced into kissing the wrong man once but whose real sin is to have slept with–and been loved by–the object of your insanely jealous obsession–Robert.”

There is no other fanbase, and there never has been – that is so divided, mean and HATEFUL to each other – for YEARS, this stupid ‘cheating’ scandal has just been another excuse for you to fight.

Neither Kristen nor Rob have made any other movie that would cultivated these wild over-obsessions; NOR have they made any other movie that has divided their fanbases and the WORLD so deeply.

“The best thing about Rob is that he is a really great actor. Watching the rushes back, you go: ‘OK, he is just going to be fantastic’. He plays (the character, Rey) slightly backward, emotionally useless and really vulnerable.

He’s got this beautiful face so you are completely entranced by that face no matter how ugly he makes himself or how wounded he is, or how manky his haircut.”

Posted at 3:37 PM on June 10, 2014

IDT the HR contact question is generating any particular buzz. It came and went already. Even HWL didn’t try and create fake rekindling romance stories about these two despite his comment. He admitted he was single in Cannes, said he was collecting numbers on the red carpet in Sydney, if anything, those comments are getting tails wagging on who he’s seeing. I can only imagine the iterations of rumor and stories that will circulate post the Rover premiere. Who walked the red carpet, who was he seen talking to at the after party and who did he leave with, or who departed on or about the same time as he did. If the Rover premiere comes and goes without a inkling on where he’s been going for some lovin, he’ll have still waters and smooth sailing for awhile. He’s gotten very good about going places where people won’t talk about their patron’s personal lives. IMHO, I think he thought severing relations with Kristen would lessen interest in him. The truth is no matter whom he dates a good many people will take interest, too many women admirers he has! It’s always been less about Kristen and more about Rob in terms of people’s interest in their relationship. Think he’s stuck with it. He seems happy, settled, confident and back to his old self. If there isn’t a woman in the wings already, I don’t think he’ll be single that much longer.

FYI – the petition for reform is as much for the paparazzi for this very reason, as it is for the tabloids. If it p*sses you off when they treat either one of them like this – come give it another signature.

We don’t have to agree on any other thing than to be MAD at the tabloids and paparazzi.

The petition does not call for changing any US laws, nor does it mess with ‘Freedom of Speech’. For that reason, anyone of any age or location around the world can sign it – it’s for all celebrities and it’s WORTH a TRY. The way Hollywood treats it’s celebrities is NOT a NEW topic of discussion. People everywhere have been fed up with the way they are treated for decades.

Since Rob loves French films, it’s especially nice that both his films got such a good reception at Cannes.

New interview with David Michod: I know you hadn’t seen the ‘Twilight’ movies before casting Robert Pattinson, but what does his fame bring to this movie? Does that help? Can it possibly hurt?

DM: I don’t know, it’s all a great unknown to me. You know, I love the idea of being able to take a person who I can only imagine his talents have been grossly underestimated.

Q: This is a good movie for him, along with the Cronenberg films.

DM He’s a really smart guy with great taste. And he knows the filmmakers that he wants to work with. But, who knows what it will mean for the movie in the public consciousness, you know? I have no idea whether or not it will work for us or against us. But, I don’t really care — because I love the surprise and the revelation of it.

And I would hope that people embrace it, because I think he’s really good in it. It was never going to be enough for me that he gave just a good, solid performance. It was always important for me that he give an extraordinary one — and I think he does it. He and Guy both.

Rob’s fans are having a great year.

— GUY PEARCE:

“The best thing about Rob is that he is a really great actor. Watching the rushes back, you go: ‘OK, he is just going to be fantastic’. He plays (the character, Rey) slightly backward, emotionally useless and really vulnerable. He’s got this beautiful face so you are completely entranced by that face no matter how ugly he makes himself or how wounded he is, or how manky his haircut.”

Rob is a standout in The Rover

Kirsty McGregor, The Rover casting director, talks about how perfect Rob was for the role:

… Michôd also brought in highly impressive American import, Scoot McNairy, and the international big gun, Robert Pattinson, the teen heartthrob who got adolescent temperatures sizzling in The Twilight Saga.

Though an unusual casting choice, Pattinson truly disappears into the role of the sweet, sad, painfully un-self-aware Rey, and etches a compelling portrait of an inherently decent young man in way over his head. “Very early in the process, I called his agent to ask if he would consider reading for the part,” Kirsty McGregor explains.

“Keep in mind, we were not a studio film, and David had only made one feature. I honeslty expected the answer to be no – I didn’t think that he would read for anything! But we were in a terrific position… we could just get the best person for the role.

A lot of high profile actors wanted it, and auditioned, and there were also many lesser known actors who did terrific auditions. We hadn’t seen anything of Rob that was in even vaguely similar territory to what we would be asking him to do, so he wasn’t going to be offered the role without reading.

It’s a great credit to him that he was looking for a role which was out of his comfort zone, and he fought really hard for it. He’s so fantastic in this movie. He shows a vulnerability that I don’t think anyone has seen; he breaks my heart. I’m a very proud casting director on that one. My dad would say that pride is a sin, but I don’t care!”

The better: he became a multimillionaire at only 21, and has known how to use his fame to concentrate on more prestigious, doing, from Cosmopolis by David Cronenberg in 2012, an independent turn which made him one of the most popular actosr from his time.

“Now, his every day life is a permanent game of hide and seek: he has to protect himself from fans and paparazzi, he has to think about his safety every time he goes out.”” Even when we go to the restaurant with him, we have to enter from a hidden door” testifies David Cronenberg, who offered a new role for the actor in his last movie, Maps To The Stars.

“He cannot live as a normal human being anymore, he has no freedom anymore. He loves Toronto, my city, because the people don’t bother him. He can go to a bar without a bodyguard. In Los Angeles or everywhere else, it is impossible…”

He thought the first Twilight would have been art movies about vampires. He did not have any idea what was waiting for him” David Cronenberg Beers, Mates, and a Guitar.

Rob is single and happy

Rob has a blast in Sydney.
Drawde_C: Rob was sitting 3 seats away from me with his popcorn and bottle of coke. His reaction to the Pretty Girl Rock part was PRICELESS

He was laughing & hiding his face in his hand before it even started…

After it started he lifted his knee, then sunk down into the chair pissing himself laughing, still hiding his face

Guy didn’t shut up the whole movie, lol. He and Rob were whispering and giggling the whole time.

When they got up on stage and talked to the audience after the movie:

Popular with the ladies! The English star joked that he was busy getting numbers on the red carpet:

Rob : ‘I’m actually out there grabbing (phone) numbers,’
Guy : ‘That’s what we’re doing right now.’

People who work with Rob adore him.

Pearce – who worked with Michod on Animal Kingdom – and Pattinson both leapt at the chance to get their hands dirty in the Outback, with the latter leaving his R-Pattz persona further behind.

“There are very few scripts that have any kind of originality in them at all” says Pattinson, who had to audition for the role. “It’s so sparse, it’s got very, very few characters and their relationships are extremely odd. It’s almost like sci-fi.”

Pearce admits to having being impressed by Pattinson’s chops. “I can’t say I’m a Twilighter'” he laughs, “but I’ve had moments of watching the dailies going ‘Jesus, he’s great’. To play this fvcked-up little dude. I just applauded him every day, quietly to myself.”
