FGL is all about pairing up with rap artists! After ‘Cruise’ with Nelly became such a big hit, the group brought out Jason DeRulo at the 2014 CMT Awards on June 4.
It’s no surprise that Nashville, Tennessee’s Bridgestone Arena went absolutely nuts when Florida Georgia Line opened the 2014 CMT Music Awards. They performed their hit “This is How We Roll” which features Luke Bryan, but no one expected to see them bring out Jason DeRulo, who sang on the song afterward. He even went into “Talk Dirty” afterward!
Florida Georgia Line’s Performance At CMT Awards
That was one heck of an opening act!
Florida Georgia Line brought down the house with an epic performance of “This Is How We Roll” — complete with some awesome surprise guests!
The legendary ZZ Top opened up the performance, and the handsome guys of Florida Georgia Line made their way to the stage just moments later.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Luke Bryan exploded out of the stage — seriously. What an entrance that was!
Of course we knew that Jason Derulo would be joining them, and his remix of “This Is How We Roll/Talk Dirty” was SO much fun to see live. Not only did Jason bring a little hip-hop to the country stage, he also had the FGL guys and Luke dancing along with him!
Hands down one of the most fun performances ever!
Jason Derulo: This Remix is A Dream Come True
“It’s really cool, man, because I’ve always dreamed of having my music cross boundaries and enter into different walks of life,” Derulo said before his performance. “Just because you love country music doesn’t mean you can’t love other genres of music. So the fact that they thought of my song to be at the CMTs is unbelievable. I’m just really excited more than anything and I have my cowboy hat on deck.”
The artists’ hopes are that the remix of “This Is How We Roll” featuring Jason will become a hit just like FGL and Nelly’s “Cruise” did.
“I’m obsessed with [the remix],” Jason added.
Plus, Luke Bryan told CMT he feels like “Talk Dirty” is the “hip hop version of ‘Country Girl Shake it for Me!'”
