#TINYWIN: Selena Gomez Volunteers In Nepal & More Moments This Week
#1) Kim Kardashian got married rocking $9.99 eyelashes. Kim may have had the wedding of the year to Kanye West, wearing a Haute Couture Givenchy gown at Fort Belvedere in Florence, Italy, BUT when it came to her makeup, she was a totally down-to-earth bride.
The star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians wore her own family’s brand of individual eyelashes, which sell for just $9.99. Not only that, all her wedding makeup was affordable enough for every woman: Urban Decay Ink For Eyes Waterproof Precision Eye Pen for $20, Kardashian Beauty Honey Lipgloss, $9, and L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire Liquid Lipcolour in Nude Ballet, $9.99.
You get the idea. So a high five for Kim and her #TINYWIN, demonstrating that a girl doesn’t have to drop big bucks on makeup to look her most beautiful on her wedding day.
#2) Angelina Jolie supports her pre-teen son, Maddox, 12, having a girlfriend: Not every mom is cool about their tween son having a girlfriend. In fact, many might freak right out. But not Malificent star Angelina Jolie, 38. She revealed on the premiere’s red carpet that her oldest son, Maddox, actually has a girlfriend who lives in England and — even more importantly — she likes her!
“He’s dating, he’s got a girlfriend,” she told Entertainment Tonight’s Nancy O’Dell. “She’s great, she lives in England … we go there as often as possible. It’s really, really sweet. She’s a great lady, so I’m lucky!”
How cool is Angelina to accept that Maddox is growing up and to welcome his special girl and not try to squash what’s most certainly an innocent crush – that’s definitely a #TINYWIN .
#3) Jessica Simpson achieves a rocking post-baby body in a healthy way: Now, speaking of moms — Jess is an inspiration for proudly showing off the post-two-baby body she’s worked hard to achieve through healthy eating and workouts.
It seems like it’s become a Hollywood rite of passage to drop baby weight in record time, showing off flat abs in bikinis after extreme diets and exercise regimens.
But good for Jessica for being “normal” and gradually dropping her post-baby weight from 175 lbs. to a healthy 110 lbs. on her 5’3″ frame, now almost a year after the birth of baby, Ace Knute Johnson. And, of course, Jessica is also mom to older daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, 2.
Jessica proudly showed off both her wight loss and her impressive muscles on Instagram in a bathing suit on May 27, 2014, and she’s also chronicled her getting-in-shape journey with Weight Watchers.
She stuck to their low-carb diet plan and did cardio and resistance training workouts four times a week with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, plus she’s taken long walks every day.
Here’s to a #TINYWIN for Jess for her patient approach to a post-baby body makeover that other women can realistically take, too!
#TINYWIN: Michelle Obama Campaigns for School Kids
#4) Selena Gomez gives back: If anyone has ever needed to step back from the fray, it’s Selena, who wisely realized that the relationship drama she experienced with Justin Bieber needed to be left behind, and fast.
The singer/actress decided to take her mind off her own personal issues in the best way possible — by hopping on a plane to Nepal for three days and spending time with underprivileged children.
Selena has always been committed to giving back and impressively took on the role of UNICEF Youth Ambassador in order to raise awareness of the needs of these vulnerable children.
Selena explained to a Nepalese journalist that she was seeking “mental peace” there. So congrats to Selena Gomez for the #TINYWIN of giving back in order to get “mental peace.”
#5) Michelle Obama stands up for school children’s right to have healthy lunches: The First Lady has campaigned hard to end the childhood obesity epidemic and now she’s fighting hard to prevent Congress from rolling back progress on the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, which set higher nutritional standards for school lunches based on non-partisan recommendations by the Institute of Medicine.
Michelle wants to make sure kids continue to get more fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains and less sugar and sodium in their lunches.
“We’re seeing new efforts to lower nutrition standards in our schools. Our children deserve so much better than this,” Mrs. Obama wrote in an op-ed in The New York Times on May 28.
Let’s all applaud our First Lady for her #TINYWIN — standing up for the nutritional needs of American children.
Now HollywoodLifers, you don’t have to be the First Lady or a major celebrity to have a #TINYWIN moment of your own every day. So take time to recognize when you do have small accomplishments and give yourself a hand!
