Star Wars: Episode VII doesn’t hit theaters until December 18, 2015, but the details are rolling in faster than the speed of light. The cast of J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode VII has been revealed, and now, so has a ginormous creature.
The first photos have been leaked from the set in Abu Dhabi where the latest installment of the sci-fi hit has been filming for the past month.
We’ve gotten a glimpse at a new addition in the desert: a huge creature, which TMZ reports is an alien that appears in two scenes, set in a Tatooine marketplace, and is being manpowered by five men in its belly on the set.
Lupita Nyong’o Joins ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’
The alien isn’t the only new member of the Star Wars family — Lupita Nyong’o has been cast!
No word on Lupita’s character yet, but we do know she’ll be starring alongside Game Of Thrones‘ Gwendoline Christie who has also just been signed onto the film.
“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” said Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilms. “It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”
Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are returning to their roles as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo, and Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow will appear, as the new faces in the galaxy.
