The always eventful award show will air on June 29 and HollywoodLife.com has learned that the organizers have invited Chris to attend and they even have a special surprise for him! HollywoodLifers, should Chris be honored?
Less than 24 hours after being released from jail, Chris Brown, 25, already has big plans in the works! HollywoodLife.com spoke to an insider close to the star, who tells us that executives producing the BET Awards are not only inviting Chris to the show, but that they want to “appreciate him” for his contributions to the music industry.
Chris Brown: BET Awards Inviting Him To Awards Show
We spoke to a source who tells us that despite Chris’ legal troubles and time behind bars, BET wants to support Chris and have him come to the show.
“[BET is already of thinking about a way to somehow appreciate [Chris] and or reward him for his music and contributions to the community,” the insider tells HollywoodLife.com. “[They] want to help build the man up and are planning to do something for him on a small scale and of course, extend an invitation for him to join his fellow colleagues and BET family at this years’ award show.”
Wow, we bet Chris is thrilled, especially since he spent 59 days behind bars!
“[They] want to recognize everyone who has a unique talent such a Chris despite what may happen in his or her personal life,” the source adds. “His music and his continued support in the inner cities need to be recognized. And most importantly, the fans wouldn’t have it any other way. His fan base has never wavered and that’s a true testament to his impact on his music listeners. [They] want him at the show this year. It will be good for him on so many levels and it’s a place where he will be respected and showered with love from fellow artist and fans.”
Chris Released From Jail Early
The singer was finally released from jail after being held for over three months. Luckily, he didn’t have to serve the entire 131 day sentence. Chris was sentenced to a year in prison on May 9 for violating his probation but he got credit for the 116 days he spent in rehab plus the 59 days behind bars!
But he’s not totally out of the clear, he has a trial set to begin sometime in June due to assault charges against him, stemming from an October 2013, alleged assault in Washington, DC.
