The list of celebrity Twitter rants has a new addition — except this time it’s against the fans! On May 31, Ariana Grande fired back at fans who didn’t understand why she was wishing the late Marilyn Monroe a happy birthday.
Ariana Grande called out the haters on her Twitter page after many fans got upset about Ariana wishing Marilyn Monroe a happy birthday on May 31. Ariana, who usually gives her fans nothing but love, shockingly called the haters “a**holes,” among other comments!
Ariana Grande Calls Out Marilyn Monroe Haters
Another day, another celebrity Twitter rant.
Ariana, 20, was clearly upset on May 31 when she fired back at fans who didn’t understand why she was tweeting a “happy birthday” message to the late Marilyn Monroe.
Ariana tweeted out the following on May 31:

Many fans commented on the photo, which was also posted on Ariana’s Instagram page, and said some pretty hurtful things about Marilyn.
Some went so far as to question why Marilyn is considered a role model, while others accused Marilyn of ruining multiple marriages.
Ariana Grande: ‘I Feel For People Who Focus On Hate’
All of those negative comments on Twitter and Instagram clearly got to Ariana, as she went back to social media to defend the photo.
“So much hate for celebrating Marilyn’s spirit on her birthday. I adore her work and have compassion for her inner sadness that she covered up on a daily basis that a**holes like you made her feel in the first place!!” She tweeted, “I feel for the people who focus on hate…. because that’s all you have to give. and I truly do feel sorry for you because when you’ve been dead for 50 some odd years…… nobody will be wishing you a happy birthday.”
No matter what your feelings are about Marilyn, we think that was a little harsh of Ariana — especially since it was directed at her fans!
However, she must have realized that a Twitter rant wasn’t the best way to express her feelings. Ariana has since deleted the rant from her Twitter feed but it remains live on TwitLonger. The original birthday shout-out to Marilyn, however, remains posted.
So what do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Was Ariana too harsh in her Twitter rant? Let us know your thoughts below!
