Ian Somerhalder Confirms Damon’s Death: ‘Game Over’ For Character

We are very angry with The Vampire Diaries right now. As Damon told Elena in season three, “I’m mad at you because I love you.” Yes, Damon. We are angry with you because we love you too much to believe you really died on the season five finale of the The Vampire Diaries.

However, as much as we love Damon, the character’s alter ego Ian Somerhalder practically sealed Damon’s fate in a new Instagram photo posted on May 31. The actor posted a photo of a tombstone with Damon’s engraved on it, with the caption: “Rest in Peace Damon Salvatore. #GameOver :(”

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Is Right To Bring Back Damon Next Season

Say it ain’t so, Ian! At the end of the finale, Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham) died to save their friends. However, before we could see where Damon and Bonnie ended up, the screen turned to white. So there’s still hope! However, Ian tweeted his apologies about Damon’s death soon after the finale. The Vampire Diaires revolves around Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and her relationship with the Salvatore brothers, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon. Elena and Damon are madly in love, so let’s hope Ian’s post is just a cruel joke!
