Selena Gomez’s grandparents have opened up about their granddaughter in a new interview — and like many of Selena’s other loved ones, they’re extremely worried about Justin’s affect on her.
Selena Gomez, 21, is known for being private, especially when it comes to her relationships and her family. However, Selena’s grandparents, Ricardo and Mary Gomez, gave some insight into Selena’s personal life in an interview with Radar Online. They expressed their concern for Selena living in the limelight, but more pointedly, worried about how her relationship with Justin Bieber was putting too much pressure on her.
Selena Gomez’s Grandparents Ask Her: Are You Doing Drugs?
Talking about Selena’s breakdown and subsequent trip to rehab in January, the grandparents stated that they believe the relationship with Justin was a direct cause. “She was worried a lot about Justin,” Ricardo revealed.
Combined with her career and her diagnosed illness of lupus, Ricardo said that Selena and Justin’s up and down relationship was just way too much for her to handle. “The doctor was telling her she needs to take some time out,” he said. “It’s just too much pressure what she’s going through. It’s just too much! She doesn’t have a single day’s break. It’s getting to the point with all this pressure, that it’s too much.”
The change in Selena was easy to see in January, and considering all of the trauma she and Justin went through leading up to her rehab stint, it’s not hard to see why Selena’s grandparents are making this connection.
Selena Gomez: Juggling An Illness, Her Career, And A Breakup
And they aren’t the only ones. Closer to when Selena rehab stint was involved, a source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively that, “Everyone between friends, family and handlers want Justin completely out of her life. They are making sure she is with someone at all times, like a sober friend so she doesn’t go visit Justin. She was left to herself when she went to go see him last time and that mistake will never happen again.”
Obviously another reunion — and breakup — with Justin has gone down since then, so Justin is still having an enormous effect on Selena. However, despite all of the hardships, it looks as if Selena is taking her life back — starting with a peaceful vacation to Nepal and a turn to religion. “Selena is trying to change her ways by going to church and more so to avoid going to rehab,” another source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
