The actress channeled her wicked character in a rubberized silk gown that looked just like latex. Was her dramatic black dress totally chic or did it look like a trash bag? VOTE.
Angelina Jolie opted for her favorite color on the red carpet, black, for the LA premiere of Maleficent at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on May 28, where the 38-year-old actress really represented her evil character in a dark and dramatic gown by Versace.
Angelina Jolie’s ‘Maleficent’ Premiere Dress:
Angelina’s Atelier Versace gown was strapless and featured gathering at the hip which gave way to a dramatic train and made the star look even more statuesque. While the dress definitely made a major statement, the rubberized leather was quite distracting and looked more like a trash bag than a luxe fabric — in short, it definitely isn’t an easy look to pull off.
That being said, the evil queen seemed to have the right confidence and styled the look to perfection, bringing out the edgy vibe by rocking spiked cuffs, a single spiked earring, a black manicure, and smoky, kohl-rimmed eyes. Angie’s hair was pulled back, as to not take away from the interesting ensemble — it was a wise choice keeping the focus on the frock and not overdoing the styling.
Brad Pitt’s ‘Maleficent’ Premiere Look:
Angie’s main man, Brad Pitt, turned up on the blue carpet to support his leading lady — and he matched her in an all-black ensemble! While Angie donned Versace, Brad looked dapper in Gucci, donning a black tuxedo and dress shirt from the fashion house, which he wore open to give the get-up a more casual vibe.
If you would have told me Angie was rocking black Atelier Versace for a premiere I wouldn’t have been surprised, however, this look managed to definitely shock me. While I don’t think many could have pulled off this dress, Angie rocked it to the best of her ability — but that still doesn’t mean I’m a fan of it.
Some might argue that it looks like something her children dreamed up with trash bags before the star stepped out of the house, but what do you think? Was Angie’s rubberized silk gown a total win or a fashion flop?
