The Portokalos family is set to reunite on the big screen for the sequel, including Toula (Nia Vardalos). The actress who works double duty, as the film’s writer and plays the main character, announced on her Twitter that a sequel is happening. “Now that I’m experiencing motherhood I feel ready to write this next chapter,” she tweeted.
The second film will focus on the reveal of a family secret and the Portokalos family will join forces again at a new wedding — described as bigger and fatter, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Will The Sequel Be As Successful As Original?
The 2002 film was extremely successful, ranking in $369 million at the world-wide box office. Not to mention, Nia’s Oscar nomination for screenwriting, and the CBS spin-off television show.
