Troian Bellasario, who plays Spencer Hastings on the show, spoke out to her fans on Instagram and revealed some un-retouched photos.
Troian Bellasario, 28, is speaking out on Instagram about all the negative feedback the June GQ magazine photo shoot has received. She reveals her thoughts on the whole controversy, specifically regarding the photoshopping that was done on the girls. Find out what she said below.
‘Pretty Little Liars’ In GQ: Photoshop Controversy — Troian Bellasario Says ‘I’m Proud Of My Body And The Way It Looks’
Troian, known as Spencer on Pretty Little Liars, uploaded a post on Instagram telling her fans what she thinks of the backlash.
“So by now you have seen many a shot from #GQ and many people have said that we were photoshopped… OF COURSE WE WERE! that’s a very specific type of photo shoot. And looking very blown out and perfected was obviously what they were looking for. Great. Cool. As long as we acknowledge how it was achieved so we know it’s not real. Here’s some behind the scenes of my body the way it is and was on the day..”
GQ magazine is very well known and it is primarily for men. Troian explains how the whole cast knew what they were getting themselves into before they decided to do the photo shoot. Troian posted three untouched photos from the shoot along with the message to reveal her real body.
She defended the magazine by saying, “I’m not mad at how these pictures turned out, the girls and I had an absolute blast. More fun than we’ve had on a photoshoot in a while, and I think you can see that in our eyes and smiles.”
Troian said the whole industry in itself is the main problem, so why not just acknowledge it and move on. She says,”But it’s the same everywhere. It’s the same way on the posters of our show and even in women’s magazines. This industry seems to invest more in perfection than in flaw. But flaw and individuality, to me, are what make a human being interesting, they make our stories worth telling. (Unfortunately the flaws don’t usually sell products or magazines).”
We definitely agree with what Troian said! Flaws can make someone even more perfect. The industry was created with that mindset a long time ago, and all we can do now is acknowledge it, know that it’s wrong, and move on. Create a voice, an opinion on what you believe is right and that’s all we can do.
Troian Bellasario: ‘I’m Happy To Shake What My Momma Gave Me’
Troian inspires all of us with her rocking confidence. She adds on Instagram, “I’m proud of my body and the way it looks because @themarkwildman kicks my butt in aerial. But my hips and thighs are a part of me (even though they magically weren’t in some shots!) I get those things from my momma. And I’m happy to shake what my momma gave me.
She also complimented her stunning co-stars Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, and Lucy Hale — “I mean. Photoshopped or not. I work with three of the most gorgeous women on the planet. (Goddesses without hair and make up as well).”
HollywoodLifers, we love how Troian actually took the time to voice her opinion to her fans. Tell us what YOU think about her post on Instagram down below.
