I think the Duggar family puts most parents to shane. These parents have 19 children and they make it look easier. Not to mention their marriage seems to be happier then most couples. I think having another children wouldn’t affect them much, however with the complications from the 19th child and the miscarriage I worry about the health of the child and the health of the mom. With that said I would rather see the Duggars have another child then see half the people who are having then today. At least we know the child will grow up in a good family!

She wants another baby like I want my new Lexus…and all this God willing stuff…God “sends” babies to crackheads and some of us were not able but it has nothing to do with you are a good or bad person. She had 19 pregnancies…her poor body and uterus need a freaking rest and her older kids need a life other than caring for all the little ones she creats and runs off and vacations with the money from the show. They are both very ignorant and selfish. God doesn’t punish ANYONE for using birth control when you feel you have met your limit. Stupid and ignorant!!

She didn’t say she was going to have a baby. Nor did she say she was seeking fertility treatments. She said she was just wanting to see where her body was and what the likelihood that she would conceive at her age. My guess is that they would not consider fertility treatments as ethical because they believe that God is the author of life.

The older girls don’t “attend college” (may find out the ways of “the outside world”), but they take on-line classes in being a mid-wife, doula, etc., and a couple of them are EMT’s with the local F.D, rescue squad.

Michelle and Jim Bob say that they would love to have another child if God blessed them with one. I feel God gave us a brain to use also. The Doctor told them the risks of having a child with down syndrom. I think that would be awful to put a child through this when they are not satisfied with 19.

I like watching the Duggars occasionally and have nothing against their religious beliefs. HOWEVER, seeing a fertility doctor or TRYING to have more children is not “leaving it up to God”. Obviously (in thier view) if God wanted her pregnant, she’d be pregnant. They need to stop worrying about concieving and actually do what they tout – leave it up to God.

That poor little womb of hers has done enough.
The baby she had before the miscarriage was premature and almost died. She almost died.
I don’t think her womb is strong enough to nourish another baby.
Just be happy with what you got.
The grandkids are coming along. She can lavish attention on them.

They won’t stop until her uterus prolapses or she simply dies while in labor.

I’m not being facetious, that’s their religion.

Hopefully she’s already in menopause or there’s too much scarring to her uterine lining and they won’t get pregnant again. The loss of the last pregnancy and the disabilities inflicted on the last live child they had should’ve been enough to discourage any more, but Patriarchal religions being what they are, only value women for the new followers they can birth and little else. I can’t imagine the psychological mess she’ll be when she’s told “no more babies coming out of you”. Birthing her kids, not raising them herself, seems to be the only thing this woman has done in her life. To lose that ability will be like losing her entire identity.

Sad really, and raising her daughters to emulate her example is just a shame, especially for the ones who don’t want to do nothing more with their lives than be housewives to men picked out by their father in between popping out a baby every 18 months of their adult lives. Women are more than just baby making machines and housekeepers. They deny their daughters the choice to be educated beyond poorly written and educationally questionable home school pamphlets. They deny their daughters the chance to makes a life outside their home. When one of the older girls expressed the wish to live in a “big city” they told her to “work on her acceptance” you know, with being a girl and being told what to do with her life by her father and then her husband. She’ll live where she’s told to live and for these girls there’s nothing else. Whenever I see these girls I get the same feeling of sadness as when I see Afghan women stumbling about in those blue veils that cover them from head to toe. The Duggar girls might not get beaten into compliance and forced to cover from head to toe but these girls are treated the same as any Afghan woman; denied an education, denied economic independence, compelled to conform to religious forms of “modesty”, expected to marry young and give birth to as many children as physically possible.

This family shouldn’t be applauded at all.

Well said, well said. The daughters seem to be emulating their mother exactly; “growing up in her footsteps”. (They could use some new hairstyles, for sure!) It is very sad that they just seem to be mini-me’s of their parents. Very robotic, puritan lifestyle. I guess none of the older kids have or are attending college? What do the older males of the family do? I’m sure they’ll expect ‘their’ wives to have busloads of babies just like mom! Mom & Dad won’t live long enough to see the youngest have grandkids if they keep going. I think it’s time to stop counting anymore. OMGosh! Disturbing.

the dad will live to see the grand children but its Michelle (the Rabbit) that wont live to see them as she will be dead and then one of the daughters will be forced to take on their mothers duty.

I personally don’t have the patience or the means to raise that many but rather than criticize the Duggar family I would like to applaud them on their beautiful well behaved family whose values we could ALL take pointers from! I am happy for all the girls who are beginning families of their own and Josh and Anna seem to be doing so well with their lives. As for fashion-wise to each his own. I am a Christian who believes that God is Love and his word is sufficient to meet all our needs. So many children are neglected even if they don’t have many siblings. I don’t think anyone is qualified to judge the Duggars choices except God himself.
