I agree, jdoe5930. If you can buy the dogs at shelters, then good! The dogs that aren’t bought from shelters are put down, however, and so are the dogs in pet shops. PETA states that puppy farms are cruel (which they are), but by purposely not buying dogs from pet shops, you are purposely killing animals that ALSO come from tortured pasts. Why should the dogs from puppy mills be punished further by not having the chance to live? PETA needs to find a better way to combat the issue of puppy farms, instead of condemning pet shop dogs.

Your answer is a complicated one. Pet Shops are like the “street dealers” of “puppy mills”. Cut the demand and you cut the supply. Its a long process but it slowly has to be done. The money is circulating straight back to the “criminals” I worked 5 years for SPCA. Ms. Grimmie has it 100% right!

I guess the question is: What do we do for the animals that are bred or are in pet stores? Do we just leave them altogether, or what?

Once the Pet Stores discover demand is dwindling, they will focus on food and supplies and slowly lower their inventory, hopefully eventually bankrupting the supplying mills.

That’s great, but again: What do we do about the animals at the puppy mills?
