Attention, Grimmie Go-Go’s, et al:

As a once-upon-a-time fan of professional wrestling, I can see your enthusiasm in your favorite contestant’s apparent success. What you have to realize is that the person getting all the hype is the one receiving a “push” from the promoter/producer. The game is rigged in their favor. Wrestling fans are aware of this, but still enjoy a good narrative and performance just the same as ‘real’ pro sports fans.

A thing that pro-wrestling fans have in common is that when the ‘bad guy’ cheats to beat the ‘good guy’, the arena goes into a pandemonium. Drinking cups are hurled at the ring, chants of ‘bull chips” ring out, and order has to be restored before a riot occurs. Even so, most of the fans feel cheated because they have suspended their disbelief of a scripted outcome in order to immerse themselves in the moment.

What ‘The Voice’ is SUPPOSED to be (the best singers get promoted via coaches and popular demand) is not what ‘The Voice’ APPEARS to be now: a shady promotion that has a predetermined outcome, and rules-changes-on-the-fly in order achieve that outcome “within the rules”.

The American public feels hoodwinked, as they should. On last Monday’s airing, Carson Daly said explicitly that any more Instant Saves are over and done. Come Tuesday, what have we here? “Screw the iTunes results; disregard the Sprint call-ins. Tonight, for the first time in our history, we will have an instant save at the end of the show via 5 minutes of Tweets. America will have spoken definitively THIS time, and then it will count.”

Americans are speaking now, and they are Tweaked. They have awakened to find yet another election process where their votes do not matter – at all!

“The Voice” producers have stepped in it badly this time, and the smell reeks. Yet they still insist that the smell we detect is roses and not bull chips.

I’m done with ‘The Voice’, regardless of the winner. Maybe I’ll go check out what the WWE is up to these days. Bye-bye, Voice; hello John Cena (urrck!)

Christina is the best on the show, hands down, and I’ve never heard her before this show the voice, this is also my first time ever watching the show entirely. She’s got something going for her, regardless of her fan base. Her style is unique and she ‘s going to win this show, no doubt.

Kristen is an amazing person in general so Im happy that despite many fans like me that are angry she didnt clinch top 3 like she should have, that she has a level head and she will probably go far in the industry because of that personality and fantastic talent that she has. So i was bitter but now not so much.. I mean the most succesful person from the Voice is not a winner but is Gwen Sebastien whether people are into country music or not, she has had an amazing career launch since her time on The Voice and she was eliminated early during battles. You could say Blake had a lot of influence of that but really its no denying that she is incredihly successful so goes to show you dont necessarily have to win The Voice in order to have success… and quite frankly most of winners I really dont hear about outside of the times they appear on The Voice…

I dont think Christina should be in the finals but theres nothing i can do about it. This whole previous fanbase thing is really not new. EVERY season has brought some amount of people that have either auditioned for other shows, have had a record release already, and/or just famous for being a YouTube sensation or some sort of media sensation. Ive always suspected that theres a regular auditioning process and then theres a secret audition process or a ‘draft’ or perhaps people have agents/managers that could get them in on the show. Its not necessarily rigged for them but the mere fact they already have fame does amplify those particular people and I agree its not always fair but the basis is finding ‘The Voice’ so its a broad spectrum and I like that better than say American Idol that does seem to book a few based off personality but tends to lack overall talent..

I dont always like the finales or the winners but The Voice is still the most interesting singing competition (thanks Netherlands) and hey every season has the potential to be different and better.

Usually the comment section is filled with the dissenters, mad and disillusioned that their contestants didn’t win or are jealous of the front runners. Happens all the time. The fact is, if you do any research about Christina Grimmie, you would come to the conclusion she is the real deal. She is so talented and different. Yes, her voice can hit into the whistle range like Mariah and Agulara, but her voice with her strong distinct low register and cross-over into all genres is quite remarkable and unlike anyone we know of these days. Check out her own music she has written and arranged since she was 12 yrs old- Bet You Don’T Curse God, Ugly, Find Me, Not Fragile, King of Thieves…even her and her friend Sarah’s cute series “Above All That Is Random” so damn cute and imaginative!!! …it goes on and on. Labels are lining up for her in the past year, but she is not jumping until it feels right, and whoever gets her will be very fortunate. Talk to any professional about Christina and they have nothing but praise for her. Senseless and mean commentors try to demean, but can’t change the actual fact that she is one of the top artists in the world today and has the most potential of anyone these days-not just on the Voice- but in the world, to become a true superstar. She will be fine if she doesn’t win-and will be genuinely happy for the winners…she is just like that-but it will make no difference as to who will ultimately be a superstar-(nothing against the other very talented singers) but it’s just who she is!

Christina’s voice is a matter of taste and appeals to a younger audience. If appears that’s the show may have manipulated the process at the last minute to favor Christina over Kristen and Kat. That is mainly why so many are upset.

Exactly. Kat went bad on itunes charts also, she would be out anyway (I like her though), but Kristen was prejudiced since the begining of the show if you pay attention. Both her battles were shortened/edited, her mic went off the other day and now she made to the top 10 (actually she was 8th place) on itunes charts and without instant save, she would be in the finals instead of Grimmie. I am not telling she is better than Grimmie, but she was! And christina was not consistent during the season. She has potential but she is not ready 100% yet. It is like jacquie. She is good and has potential, her song is beautiful but she has still some technical issues that she will improve with time.

Grimmie is so over-rated and has been one of the least consistent performers all season. It sucks that her web army may make the whole thing feel like a rigged game.

No one else took risks like her, and she wasn’t shy about expressing her dislike for a couple of the songs that Adam chose for her. She has a fresh new distinct style and voice. Comparing to everyone on the show who took the easy way up to the top, she did the better job. Don’t hate.

I think Josh has more talent and soul. I am so tired of so many female vocalists all sounding the same. She does have talent but sounds so much like the others on the radio. Josh has a refreshing sound . I also think there is room in the Country Western scene for Jake W. He does need more coaching but I think he will only continue to grow . He is not quite the entertainer as of yet. But Josh is the full package.

totally garbage

Christina grimmie deserves the win. She is semi famous but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t compete. Lots of singers on the competition had it and didn’t win so why make it bec of that? She derves to win bec of her voice . And to all of u claiming you will not go on the show….I call your bluff…you wont back off it bec its the best competition ever….way better then other shows.

She didn’t deserve to go to the finals. I like her but she was terrible at semi-finals and Kristen made it to the top 10 on itunes and had her downloads multiplied by 5. She had more than twice the votes + downloads of Grimmie but The Voice changed the rules to benefit Christina, which was totally unfair. Despite of the fact that only East coast sees the show live and can do instant saves…

I couldn’t agree with you more. At this stage of the game, they should have let things fall into place. Of course, the producers didn’t seem to want Kristen in the finals, although based on her performance on i-tunes she was clearly the winner. I hope we see her again. There is satill one spot left on the tour and they should give it to her based on the fact she was clearly the winner by vote.

Christina Grimmie is the best singer on that show hands down! She can sing any genera and unlike everyone else who sings like it’s karaoke, she adds her own style to the songs she sings. Sure she has a fan base, but thats because she earned it, she started with nothing and is just now getting the ball rolling, I hope she wins it all so people will finally know her name.

The instant save stinks b/c it completely discounts the near-certainty that America already voted Kristen Merlin into 3rd place. It also stinks that Adam had Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and other celebrities tweeting out to their fans to save Christina . . . allowing millions of people who may never have watched a single episode have input into the results.

Both the other artists as Selena tweeted the tag wrong, they did not influence the result, she managed to beat the record of 1.92 million tweets in 5 minutes because of her fans, does not diminish the work she has done for the live shows, she deserves to be in the top 3 and once again The iTUNES iS NOT THE ONLY WAY TO VOTE, WHO WAS nOBODY KNOWS iN PLACE 3, tOP 10 DO NOT WANT TO SAY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

If there had been no “instant save” as there was not supposed to have been, Christina probably wouldn’t be in the final 3. All 5 finalists worked hard to get that far. It’s the integrity of the show, not Christina’s work ethic, that is in question. The mess up on the percentages during voting makes it all the more suspicious.

As I understand they announced the instant save on Monday, before the voting started so they didn’t change it to benefit Christina, if I’m wrong let me know although I’m pretty sure I’m not.

Also just to clarify, Adam didn’t talk to Selena to get her to tweet. Remember Christina used to open Selena’s concerts and also Selena’s stepfather is Christina’s agent or something like that. Adam may have talked to Bieber to tweet but I’m sure with the relationship mentioned before Bieber knows Christina. Now do I think this influence the voting? maybe but realistically she would have won wither her fan base alone (including me). I for one spam twitter voting.

Despite of the fact I am also totally against instant save on semi finals (it is valid for top 12, 10, 8 though), I don’t think bieber + selena made her victory. Remember, Shakira has more than 90 million fans on facebook and she woukd be invencible if this influenced people that much. Anyway I agree, Grimmie is very tallented but she did bad on semi finals while Kristen was top 10 on itunes. She deserved more and America had decided already. Why didn’t grimmie’s fans buy her songs when she needed? Sorry but twitter should not have more value than downloads and votes. If I was American, I would stop voting or downloading once the instant save will decide it anyway in the end.

Christina DOES NOT deserve to win. I voted 100% Josh, It,s time for a male vocalist to win, the last two/three shows, it’s been a female. Josh all the way. Yeah Kat an Kristen had to go. And so does Tex.

I think the instant save should be eliminated, especially once you get to the semi finals. It is not “America instant saves” its the people on eastern standard time. America voted Kristin 3rd The east coast saved Christina.

But itunes top 10 multiply per 5. It is a big gap to fill with other votting methods. Even christina having a big fan base, they would buy her songs and put her on top 10 but this didn’t happen. I am pretty sure that kristen downloads x5 alone gave her more votes than Grimmie.

but you just have to wonder. Twitter votes – !? Kristen rocks , and Kat is amazing. In one
year no one will remember Christina’s name, never mind those two guys. Oh well…go Bruins.

The fact that Christina walked onto the voice already being famous and having a huge fan base from being a youtube sensation makes it seem unfair to me. The other contestants created a fan base FROM the voice and nothing previous. Christina has her Youtube fans AND her now The Voice fans. Christina opened for Selena Gomez. Shes already pretty famous. I feel as though its unfair to the other artists. Christina is an amazing Artist. But i think its extreamly unfair..

The fact that Christina worked hard for that following is not unfair. Let’s face it – Christina was smart. She knows how hard it is to make it into the industry so she took her time before doing something huge like this. I want Josh to win but I applaud Christina for this. I would not be disappointed if Christina or Josh wins. Besides, if you’re saying that Christina should not be on the show because she’s semi-established, it seems like you’re saying that she shouldn’t go for her dreams. Everyone has the right to go after their dreams and this is Christina going after hers, so let’s just be happy for them no matter what. P.S. Semi-established singers have already been on the show before so I don’t get why people complain about Christina all of a sudden. O.o

I am not a conspiracy theorist as a rule, but the sudden reinstatement of the “instant save,” the “messed up graphic” that was supposed to show how the votes were going, the balloon drop on Monday night, and the fact that Kristen was way ahead on iTunes sure make Christina’s third-place positioning seem fishy! I think Kat and Kristen will have careers in music in spite of Christina’s beating them out (by hook or by crook), but Josh has earned the win. With two new inexperienced coaches, an abysmal track record when it comes to actually creating “stars,” and the “instant save” fiasco, “The Voice” is liable to find itself sinking fast next season. I’m on the verge of being over it early, and I know from reading comments on several sites that I’m not the only one.

Kristen should be there, it was a boycott bc they knew how many followers on tweeter Christina have, and they made the “save a singer”. How unfare, I couldn’t even vote bc I don’t have a tweeter account. Why not fb, nbc, calls or texts? Why tweeter? Shame on the voice. It’s all paid and yeah Christina will obviously win….

The Voice had made the whole voting process all about social media, from Facebook voting to iTunes sales to Twitter saves. If Christina won because she has the largest social media following, she is only playing by the rules The Voice put in place. But her voice is exquisite and she deserves to be there. As for Kristen Merlin – she should be in the finals and not Jake Worthington.

Grimmies’ voice literally makes me cringe. I can’t wrap my head around why anyone even likes her, before or during the Voice. Kat is the female with the exquisite voice to me. But I agree about Jake. Nothing unique, no range. Josh deserves the win but the teenage twitter verse guarantees it’s Grimmies by a landslide.

Grimmie sings just fine as long as she doesn’t belt, and she does have a following. I think she has talent too, but her social media presence is getting more attention than her music at this point. A bit troubling for a show called The Voice.
