Finale Boycott

Posted at 4:09 PM on May 15, 2014

I agree that Jake is not Top 3 material, but the truth is that people really voted for him and purchased his music on iTunes. That makes him deserving of moving ahead…regardless of whether or not we think others are more talented. What I am more angry about is that Kristen outsold Christina and Kat. She was in the Top 10, and she still got screwed because of Grimmie favouritism on behalf of producers. They weren’t even discreet (last minute save, “technical difficulties”). I quit this show. Shakira should never come back as a coach. And I hope their ratings go down. I will not be watching the finale either. I hope Josh wins, but it seems unlikely that anyone other than Christina will win. Even though she already has a contract. Even though her voice is too nasal. Even though she can scream but not sing.

You’re disappointed; I get that. However, you are ONE PERSON. The average one-episode audience for The Voice is TWELVE MILLION people. Even if you could convince everyone you know to boycott the finale, it would still have a rating between 2.5 and 3.0 with a 9 share in the prime demo (P18-49).

That said, I’m glad you’ve gotten all that out. Holding all that rage in about something so gerally trivial would have made your brain explode, and that would be sad.

Jake was ok, but top 3 come on give me a break. Last year 0 chairs turned this year to the finals. There was better talent already sent home.

Timbaland does not sing “Apologize” it’s ONEREPUBLIC. Do your research.

Timbaland DOES sing Apologize…so does One Republic, but that doesn’t negate the fact that Timbaland does as well. A simple Google search will tell you that much. What was that about doing research?

I guess “sing” might technically be the wrong word, since all he really does is the background echo…but Timbaland DID produce the song and include it on his albums, which helped popularize the song and One Republic.

Kristen was in the top 10 on iTunes after the last vote. There’s no way she would be going home if they didn’t bring back the twitter save at the last minute. They didn’t like the results so they catered to the demographic that would get them who they wanted with Twitter… Grimmie. They should have the people WE voted for for over 12 hours+ giving everyone a chance to have an input instead of 4 minutes of computer crashing save attempts on the east coast only…

I totally agree – I feel Kristen got robbed on that one. There should have never been an instant save in the semi-finals.

Thank you for bluntly saying what I’ve been thinking for weeks-Hillbilly Jake should have been gone long ago! One-trick pony, with a hokey, twang in his voice, that is an insult to decent country singers. I’m cheering for Christina on talent, have been from the start-but seriously,Jake?! Kristen was much so much better than this guy all season!

Christina reached top 3 only because her fans , only she has million fans before the voice. so its kinda unfair to Kristen and kat.

Kristen is the real top 3. Grimmie was saved this late in the game? Adam reached out to Justin Beiber and asked for tweeter counts. Shame on him, must want to really win.

Kristen deserved to be in the finale over Jake. The country vote definitely carried Jake but Blake actually made a pretty brilliant decision to have Jake sing “Heaven”. Blake knows how to play the game. It was Jake’s first non-country song but it was the type of song that he could do in a country-style. Well known song by non-country fans….had the country sound to appeal to country fans.

I think that Christina being on the bottom 3 is a fluke. I mean, I think that the show did that just so they can show that even with her fan base, she could still be in the bottom.

Also, WHAT IS JAKE WORTHINGTON DOING THERE? I mean, sure, he’s a good singer. But against Kat Perkins? Really, he should have went home. :/

Yet when it came down to people wanting to own his music … he killed her. In fact, he crushed Christina too, with BOTH his songs.

2 time zones where left out of the final votes!!!
I’d be willing to bet the results were different from the top 3 last night when all of the US voted. Kristen was robbed, I’m sure you deliberately cute out Cali’s vote! Kristen Merlin, SF Bay Area supports you!!!!
Totally unfair for finals to be picked by 1 of 4 US time zones!!!!

I think Kristen should have been in the finale over Jake and I’m in California so I think the Instant-Save is pretty stupid because it cuts out part of the country. But there’s actually 4 timezones….not 3. So there are 2 out of 4 timezones (Eastern and Central) voting on the instant-save, not 1 out of 4….and the Mountain timezone is way behind the other timezones in terms of population. However, I’m sure that if people really want to be part of that vote, they follow Twitter so they can vote in real-time. Regardless, Kristen is a country artist and she was the only country artist in the final Twitter vote. Since most of the South is in the Eastern or Central timezone, she had a pretty big advantage of the “country vote” and that was the same vote that carried Jake into the finale even though he didn’t deserve it. So I don’t think she had any geographic disadvantages there.

Sad to see great talent voted off last night. Twitter played a major role not the voters. NBC should check who decided to let the voting be extended to get their person they favored won.
I hope sex orientation didn’t play a role. We will never know.!

…”I hope sex orientation didn’t play a role.”
That’s a two way street… I hope people weren’t only voting for her because of her sexual orientation… seems equally unfair. Called the Voice… not lets launch a minority into the limelight so we can make a statement…
