So who is the lady behind the beard? What we found out was that she is really a he.
Conchita’s onstage drag image was created by a 25-year-old singer named Thomas Neuwirth. For his performance, Thomas rocked a skin-tight glittery dress, long brown hair and a beard, reports The Wall Street Journal.
“This night is dedicated to everyone who believes in a future of peace and freedom — we are unity and we are unstoppable,” Conchita said, after her amazing, history-making victory.
The victory was the result of a gradual build up of support for the drag queen in the days before the final in Denmark. A polarizing figure, Conchita attracted a flood of respect for her views on gender and sexuality.

At different times during the night anything “Russian” received boos from the crowd. Russia has left a bad taste in many people’s mouths because of their recent military actions in and around the Ukraine.
